Zune 80 Not recognized by computer or Zune software

When I plug my zune in, it does charge with the usb cable, but it is not recognized by the computer or the zune software. I have done the following:
1. restarted the computer/software
2. rebooted the device
3. open the device manager-- It is not listed
4. used the "Mr. Fix It"
5. performed all computer updates
6. performed all Zune software updates
7. plugged Zune into another computer

Still no change. Anyone else having this problem? I don't think it's the cable because it still charges when plug into the computer.

what happens when you plugged it into another PC? (did that PC have zune software? If not, it proves little...)

Yes, my other computer does have the zune software..I got the same error message.

It could be the cable..or the socket. Borrow and test another cable if you can... but is most likely the device. Sorry...
