[SOLVED] text issues

while reading the zb frontpage article today, i noticed something very odd. pretty much every where some sort of punctuation was supposed to be (especially quotes and apostrophes) there was instead a weird jumble of symbols. heres what it looked like:


this happens with almost all of the frontpage articles, but this one was especially bad. i wanted to know if it is just me experiencing it, if its a code-error or a cross-platform issue, if its just my browser being stupid, as well as a possible way to solve it.

What browser are you using?
It's looking fine on Opera.

I'm on Chrome and it looks the same way. All screwed up.

I see your problem, kind sir. Switch to Opera or Firefox. Chrome does it too, but really, who looks at the front page that's a registered user?

EDIT: Actually, Opera is the only browser that DOESN'T do it. Opera is nice. Use it if you're that worried about it

I don't know what causes it, but I've seen this problem many places on teh internetz. I has Google Chrome and now that you pointed it out, I notice it too.

i really don't want to switch browsers, especially to opera, and i look at the frontpage because i'm too lazy to go into "new posts" and find it

Opera clobbers IE8. Well, everything clobbers IE8. Trust me, you'll like a different browser better. Strange characters aside.

The problem is in Opera for me. IE works fine on it, strangely.

It is not a browser problem. I tried it in Chrome, Firefox, Safari 4 & 5, and Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8, & 9, and all browsers showed this problem.

vbulletin issues? I might have seen it on RGHQ somewhere, let me look at my logs

Maybe it has to do with the OS? I have no clue. All my browsers do it (just checked again).

You're all wrong; it's an encoding problem. The WP plugin isn't playing nice with Unicode, but if your browser is set to understand Unicode it should fix the issue. This was supposed to have been fixed a while ago, but I guess it's back.
