Be the first to get the source code to the first web server for the Zune platform.
Usage: After installing through the OpenZDK deploykit.exe interface, open up the Zune's Internet browser. This will connect to your wireless network and obtain an IP address. After completing this step, exit the Zune HD Internet browser and open up the CodePug WebServer. Tapping on the screen will shutdown the server and return to the Zune's menu.
Currently, it is still very much in the Alpha stage. It will however list the files and directories in the root location of your Zune's storage media.
I hope this serves as a starting point for better Zune network services and capabilities.
(Sorry, the spam filter caught this at first)
Nice!
If this works (I don't own a Zune HD), you'll be the first one to utilize OpenZDK's network abilities.
What exactly does this do? I'm assuming that it will help enable online Zune HD games? I may be completely wrong
haha this sounds a little confusing so I'll clarify this a bit. This app will not really do anything special in means of fully developed apps, but is more to show that capabilities of openZDK like the other demos.
ok, now picture that your zuneHD is a wireless hard drive. to access it, like all other wireless hard drives, you need the ip address to identify it. think of the ip as the name that your network gives your device. now this app will tell you your zune's ip address that your network assigned to it and allow you to see the root files located on your zune. at the moment, you cannot modify, edit, or copy these files. only view them in your browser on your computer.
So once more, to do this, first install the app. then connect to your network on your zuneHD and open the DEFAULT internet browser. after the page loads, close out of it. now while still in range of your connected network, open this the "CodePug WebServer" and it will tell you your zune's ip address. go to a computer that is connected to the same network and type in the ip address in any internet browser. i just use firefox (do this while the app is still running). and there you go! you should see the root files of your zune and should look like this.
great job CodePug! this is a great step forward. we now have seen openZDK's power with networks rather than just graphics! keep up the good work!
So... If the ability to edit the files was added, we'd have full access to the zune HD's OS? Maybe I'm wrong but that's what it looks like. if so, that would be full of epic.

This is great, I'm so excited for the potential of the Zune. Would it be possible to install apps without connecting to a computer, or, for example, add a Doom .wad file to the zune without having to delete Doom from my zune, put the .wad in the Content folder and then redeploy?
