Description:
A featured alarm clock for the Zune HD.
-Plays your music as an alarm: select from playlists on your device
-Set a sleep time and doze off to your music
-Saves your settings
Instructions:
-I tried to make the UI very natural to an HD user. I may detail this later.
Updates:
2.1: added Snooze feature
2.0: Major overhaul of system and GUI, added Sleep.
Roadmap: make the Sleep timer a time period instead of an end time.
Shoot, I just realized that I put up untested code! I'll get that fixed in a second here.
The version I put up is 1.01, but my last stable version is 1.0. One second.
Edit: Should be good to go.
Edit2: Ok, I'm getting mixed signals. Some people say it works, others don't. If it still doesn't work for you, I'd like to know how many playlists you have on your device. That's the only thing I can think of that would go wrong...
Nope its not working for me either. It just reboots my zune :/
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you haven't made any playlists on your device.
Don't worry about it, though. I've updated the app so that, if you don't have any playlists, it will just play all of your music. And, of course, that means that users with playlists get an All Songs option too! It's at the end of the playlist selection cycle.
Unfortunately, I can't add a fix for blank playlists, because I've been unable to make one xD I don't honestly know what will happen, so make sure your playlists have content. Remember, you can just delete them straight from the device.

please, please add snooze.. this app works great except for the lack of snooze.. and if/when you do add snooze make it a big button in the center (taking up like 1/3 of the screen, at least) and make it 5 minutes.
anyways, thanks, this was a huge help for me when my phone broke and i didn't have an alarm clock.
no lie...
the one app ive been wanting all my zune life haha
BEEAASSST!
ive always wanted to wake up to WAKE UP by Arcade Fire
thats the song to wake up to =P
THANK U!!!
Snooze may be tricky. I'd like to make it so that, when the alarm goes off, the entire screen turns into a snooze button and a small exit button at the bottom. I'll get to work on it, but I"m leaving for Italy over spring break so it might be a week or so.
Sounds like a great app! I have some questions; I can't check it out for myself yet, as my Zune is in the mail and on the way:
1. I assume the Alarm will not turn the Zune on, correct? Is there any way to have it save power, or do you just leave it sitting there all night?
2. If I purchase a speaker system for it (a basic docking system), will the Alarm app play through it? Does this application completely replace the need for an an expensive Zune HD Alarm Clock hardware device?
Thanks so much-- for making it and answering my questions!

1. If I recall correctly, you have to leave it sitting there, but with the tegra it won't overheart.
1. No, the alarm won't turn the Zune on. It's an XNA app. It doesn't interact with any of the Zune's features. If it were an OpenZDK, it'd be a long shot. Since it's continually running, I'd assume it'd be draining the battery.
2. That's correct. The expensive ones (iHome / Kicker) have more advanced features such as increasing volume, multiple alarms, waking up to the radio, etc.
