i know no one has posted in a while on here but could some please make another one. the choppiness of the notes coming makes it almost unplayable.
I dont think i am the only one with this request. i would make it but i am just starting to teach myself C# and there is no way i could do this now.
The HDD Zunes aren't really built for this type of game. This game attempts analyze the song and create notes that match, while the song is playing.
The ZHD can handle this type of game, as evidenced by Audiosurf Tilt, but I think it may analyze the song before you play.
Games like Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and DDR have preloaded notes for preloaded songs. The HDD Zunes could probably handle that if someone were to create it. Though then they would also need to create notes for songs.
(I do vaguely remember that catnat109 created a version of Groove with preloaded notes... But I'm not sure.)

Do note that the original developer of this game vanished off the grid and neither I nor anyone else have the source code proper. There's no reason why someone else couldn't build their own take on the concept, but the limitations of XNA's visualization API mean that it would be difficult to impossible to fix many of the issues in ZuneHero. Additionally, the visualization API doesn't work on the HD at all, so a game based on the technique used by ZuneHero would be constrained to pre-HD models.
Audiosurf is able to analyze songs on the fly, but being a signed Microsoft app, it has access to a great deal more capabilities of the Zune than unsigned XNA apps produced by the developers here.
The most promising technique is analyzing the songs on the PC and transferring .chart files to the Zune, which requires no special processing on the device itself. However, the difficulty of deploying user content with XNA and the necessity of making a .chart file for each and every song that is to be played means that this option too is rather problematic.

I'm pretty sure Audiosurf Tilt does pre-analysis. The PC version does pre-analysis and Tilt even says "Analyzing" before you play...
Could pre-analysis be done on the HDD Zunes...?

That's what I meant by "on-the-fly".
It's not an HD vs. SD distinction; if Microsoft really wanted to they could backport it to the SD. However, the Microsoft signed apps are not necessarily XNA apps and have much greater API access, obviously including 3D capability.
Groove is way better and you can actually play it on the newest SD zunes (not zune HDs though ). How are you supposed to press left and right at the same time anyway?!
I actually like ZuneHero better, but that's just my opinion. I honestly don't think this will ever happen, unless Microsoft makes it. Most people with the skill here don't have time and have their lives to attend to.
question- i have deployed zune xna games from this website before, but it was all in one day and after that, i synced my zune with music in the zune software a few times for like some music and a new app from their marketplace- goo splat. i think that it what caused this problem- this game wont deploy. i will try another game now to see if its just the game, or my zune is screwed up. please respond, thanks.
Edit:
sorry nevermind i have a zune hd and i didnt read the whole thread, please disregard my post
