Well, I've had my 120GB for a few months, and today, it would not turn on at all. No dead battery graphic flashing, just a black screen. Buttons won't respond and it doesn't seem like power is working either. I have a feeling a ribbon cable somehow got disconnected or something went haywire. I tried: resetting toggling hold a few times; keeping it charged
I've tried resetting and charging it, but nothing seems to work. (It's been charging for a day). But it doesn't seem to be getting warm, and my computer isn't even recognizing it as a device (tried both Windows and Mac).
Any ideas? I'm planning on getting a replacement. I do have a question though; I have the Invisible Shield installed on my Zune. Do you think that this will affect warranty? Should I remove it before sending it in?
I doubt that having the Invisible Shield will void your warranty. However, I do recommend you take it off before sending the Zune in. If they do get a replacement for you they probably won't transfer the Invisible Shield to the new Zune.
I'm Chris, a ZAGG representative. I would suggest removing the invisibleSHIELD and sending it to ZAGG for a replacement under the Lifetime Replacement Guarantee. When you get your new Zune, you will also have a brand new invisibleSHIELD waiting for you. If you have questions, please email me at evangelist@zagg.com.
Thanks for your advice guys. I think I'll call them tomorrow and inquire about a replacement. Also, Chris, thanks for chiming in! I appreciate the active customer support from ZAGG .
Sorry for the double post, but....
I was wondering what the process was for the Zune Repair. I just placed my repair order, and I was wondering if a box for shipping + instructions would be sent to me, or if I should initiate the transaction.
Edit:
Wow..... My Zune just turned on completely spontaneously and randomly (hmmm that was a lot of -ly's). But, anyways, it's been plugged into my computer for the better part of a week, and I suppose 4 days is my lucky number. I wasn't even using my computer at the time, but out of the blue, I happened to hear the oh-so-familiar bum-Bum signifying a device had been plugged in. To my surprise and excitement, I saw a backlit Zune . However, it still worries me that it took 4 days to turn on, and I'm wondering about reliability/longevity towards the future.
So a few questions: Should I cancel my repair request? How can I do that? And do you think they would still give me a replacement even if it is currently working?
Ummmm, i have a similar problem. just yesterday i charged my zune to full and today... my Zune was COMPLETELY dead, not even the low battery sign showed up!
So I got home, plugged in my Zune, and it took like 10 minutes for the battery sign to show up! Right now I'm still charging it.
But... Anyone have any idea why this happened? Remember the time when a lot of people's Zune 80s ran dead for being asleep? Could this be the problem??? :S
And if it is a problem, anyone know how to fix it or if i should send it back? I still have my 2 year warranty just incase.
Well, as it is not normal at all for Zune to be dead for 4 days and then randomly starting up again, I'd still send it in for repairs. I did think you were able to change/cancel the process, you could add some more information, I thought.
I need to send it in myself, but the damn site restricts me from doing nearly anything.

Well when my problem first started, I was doing some research, and this appears to be common if the battery gets completely drained. It will usually take ~10 minutes for the Zune to have enough power to supply past a certain threshold.
I was hoping that was going to work for me (charge it for maybe half an hour), but I'm not quite sure why it took more than half a week. As of now, everything seems to be fine though.
