Default Ubuntu

I've never been one to really fool with my computer (I just use it to fool with other pieces of technology), but I decided it was time I finally take the plunge and try out a Linux distro. I promptly installed Ubuntu (dual-booted with my Windows 7, of course), and I must say, I am in love with it already. How did I not do this earlier? It's soooooooo smooth. Anyway, I was wondering of other Linux (or Ubuntu) users could give me some tips on getting started.

WINE is nice for those programs you really want to use that are windows-only. However it's more fun to use only programs that were written to support linux. Did they fix all the sound problems they used to have? Last time I had it installed was Karmic Koala.

I haven't encountered any sound problems.

I find Linux very unsupported on certain devices or computers I squire. For example my HP envy I have had beats audio and Ubuntu only plays audio out of the bottom speakers .
