Zune 4/8/16 Email "Pager"

I am looking for an application for my Zune 4 that can alert me when I have an email. I know that unless there is a virtual keyboard that I cannot respond, but it's nice to be able to go outside and not worry about whether or not an email is going to pop up.

IDK what buttons to have. The screen might show the inbox, the Zune Pad can allow you to scroll through and view the emails and an alert sound can pop up when an email comes your way.

I imagine most people that have a Zune will be using Hotmail, so I would make the application POP3 compatible. Also, OpenZDK is probably required.

I'm fairly certain this isn't possible. There's no way to do this unless the application was active and on screen, meaning you couldn't do anything else, meaning you may as well be using a mail application.

Would you be able to listen to music while the mail app is open?

It would be possible to do so and control it using the play button (probably wouldn't need more than the d-pad and center button for email), but the old Zune line is just so unsuited for an email app, and they're so long gone out of the limelight, I don't think anyone is going to bother developing for them. Zune HD would be the only device there's a chance of getting something done, but a 1st/2nd gen exclusive app that really needs a touchscreen to be anywhere near useful? Not going to happen.

Do you know how someone might even go about making an app like this? I'm not the best developer but if it's simple (is it)

You would need to know C++ and the OpenZDK library to write this.
