Default Photosynth now on the Marketplace

It's been some time since the rumors of Photosynth coming to Windows Phone long delayed even after the release of Mango, much like Skype, surfaced, but just like the recent release of the full Skype client, you can now pick up Photosynth for your own phone.

The app seems well worth the wait, already garnering 4.5 our of 5 stars from user ratings on the Marketplace. It's worth noting that it won't run properly on all phones though. Here's the list of requirements.
  • camera
  • owner identity
  • location services
  • music and video library
  • phone identity
  • data services
  • movement and directional sensor
  • compass
  • gyroscope
  • camera
Compasses and gyroscopes aren't required by the Windows Phone specifications, so older and/or cheaper phones may lack them, which can make tracking position more difficult, causing the app not to run as smoothly and easily as you'd expect. It won't run at all on phones with less than 512 MB of RAM, like the Lumia 610. There are still a wealth of devices that can run Photosynth to its fullest, of course, especially if you happen to have the gargantuan megapixel count of the HTC Titan II. So what are you waiting for? Give it a shot now.
