Default Nokia takes home yet another honor

If there's one thing that's clear about Windows Phone, it's that it has some dedicated fans (myself among them) that strongly and vocally back their platform of choice. Like we saw how Windows Phone dominated Amazon reviews (speaking of Amazon, it was recently the best selling phone there before it's even out), as well as winning PC Magazine's Reader's Choice award. Microsoft makes the user experience king, and it shows. But I promised some news about Nokia, didn't I?

As the flagship Microsoft partner, it's only natural Nokia would release some of the most loved Windows Phones available. As usual, their phones perform stunningly in the polls, such as LAPTOP magazine's recent Smartphone Madness 2012. If the name sounds familiar, it should, they awarded the Lumia 900 a Best of CES finalist position. I've been following these particular awards since the semifinals or so. The Lumia 900 blazing through all competition didn't surprise me in the least, but amazingly the Lumia 710, by no means the most powerful phone ever made, actually managed to steal a narrow victory from the Samsung Galaxy Nexus! This phone is the representative Android phone, so to see the little 710 take it down is quite exciting. The vote was close though, 7,444 to 7,297, the 147 vote difference being a little less than 1% of the total votes cast. Of course, when it came time for the 710 to face the 900 it was kind of a landslide, 4,225 to 454. A Nokia dominated final round is certainly great though, and I'm proud of each and every one of the people who stepped up to defend Windows Phone in the court of public opinion in these polls. Go Windows Phone!

I like how the iPhone 4S didn't even make it out of the first bracket.

Yeah, and I've never even heard of the phone that beat it.

The iPhone is little more than a glorified app library. It offers decent hardware in a library like environment. Which is fine, but the Windows Phone experience is more of a device with bells and whistles. I like that part. It would seem others do too.
