Default Zune library creating duplicate songs, despite no actual dupe file

Today, my software started acting up where it basically created duplicate entries of about 3000 songs in my library. Looking at the duplicates they refer to the exact same file, but carry with them different play count information.

I know I can reset the library, but I'd really like to maintain my play count information if at all possible as I use it for autoplaylists to sync portions of my collection to my Zune as the collection is bigger than the device. Starting over again, may be just enough to make the move to a new device as if I'm starting new, it may as well be with a new device.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

REA has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Default

Ugh,,, This... I know this all too well. When it does this, try deleting one of the duplicates, When this happens to me, one of the duplicate songs/albums will either delete when you hit the <Del> key or it will stay. remember which one it is (either the first or second) because it will be the same one for all of them. As of now, I don't know of a way to keep it from doing that, so just do the same thing if/when it happens.
Hope that helps.
