Default XBox Music to Replace Zune in the Near Future

Microsoft has recently announced that the Zune music and video service will be replaced by XBox Music.

Here is the webpage introducing XBox Music on the Zune.net site:
XBox Music | Zune.net

There's also this fancy video showing off some of the features to be expected in the XBox Music service:
XBox Music - Xbox.com

Hopefully these FAQs will ease the nerves of those who still use the Zune software/devices, which can be found on the XBox Music introductory article on Zune.net:

Q: You recently announced a new music service, Xbox Music. What’s happening to Zune?

A: The Zune music and video service has been a key component of Microsoft’s entertainment offering. We’re using our expertise from Zune to launch a brand-new music service under the Xbox Music brand. When we launch, Xbox Music will bring you a world-class music library, and great new ways to enjoy, share and discover new music. We will release Xbox music on Xbox 360, Windows Phones and Windows 8 PCs and Tablets.

Q: I’m a Zune subscriber. What happens to my music collection?

A: Current Zune customers will become Xbox Music customers and will have access to everything they love today, and more. We’re confident Zune users will enjoy Xbox Music and we will share more details closer to launch.

Q: How will Xbox Music work? Will I need a subscription? How much will Xbox Music cost?

A: Xbox Music will bring you a world class music library and great new ways to enjoy, share and discover new music on the Xbox console, Windows Phones, and Windows 8 PCs and tablets. We will have more to tell you soon about our specific plans.

Q: When will Xbox Music be available?

A: We’ll have more to share on timing and specific product details soon.

I for one am unsure as to whether or not I'm looking forward to this change. As far as I can tell, it seems like nothing more than a change in brand name. I just don't want my Zune to lose any functionality on my computer. What do you guys think?

Yeah, that's not really too much info yet. Obviously none of us are too stoked about it. We'll just have to take a wait and see approach.

So essentially, this won't effect the Zune PMPs at all.
Unless with the branding name, they'll have to update the Zune hardware devices to allow it to work. It's a bit of a long shot, and it'd be the first update in well over a year (if I'm not mistaken).
