Looks great! Question, if you create a new Genre along with the existing ones of Movie, Video, etc, say "Cartoons" for this example. Would that "Cartoons" then become a new menu item along the top twist? Just curious about that.

Nope, it distinguishes those items based on two tags, both of which require rather large values. Zune.net specifies that right now they only support Movies, TV Shows, Music Videos, and Videos (this basically just means that the type isn't specified).

Genre is more of a descriptor for the item (such as in the screenpeek, V for Vendetta is a "Thriller").

This is possibly the best application to come out for the zune yet. And probably ever.

You are going to be all over Digg, Engadget, and Gizmodo.

Default RE: zMeta - Metadata editor

zMeta : Allows users to modify all Zune-used meta tags of Zunable media.
Cost: Nothing.

Where to get?
Here (For the installer)
Here (For just the files)

Instructions:
Open files.
Change tags (either in table view or single view)
Switch video types (right click on entries in the table view, or select multiple entries and then choose what type you want).
Saving? Is done whenever you make a change, change anything at all and the data and tags are saved.

Once you've edited what you want, then re-sync the files to the Zune. The Zune software won't recognize them as being changed so unfortunately you'll have to delete the files from your Zune and then re-upload the files. This is mostly just temporary until AlbinoTux and myself figure out how to send content to the Zune itself.

Also note that if the content isn't on the Zune yet and you change the tags, then all you have to do is sync the files to the Zune and the tags will be there. The reason you have to re-sync content is only because the Zune software won't see that the files in your library are different to those on the Zune and thus won't update the tags.

Supported Formats
All Zunable formats. However, note that .mp4, .m4a, and .m4b don't really work with Metatags (in general, not just with zMeta) and won't hold tags. As far as I know the only way to fix this is to convert them to .wmv, .mp3, or another Zunable format.

Props: Saikou, AlbinoTux, Jocker, and everyone at ZuneBoards (www.ZuneBoards.com).

Note:To uninstall the application if you use the installer, just go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall from there.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
also after a few conversions I get:

Access is denied. (Exeption from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

and It never remembers my settings of whats what and even usually even mixes them up

This is, most likely, caused by the particular files you're editing. It seems that Metadata isn't stored the way it should be (this isn't my software, this is everything, even tags edited with the Zune software wouldn't stick). I'm pretty sure that the formats like this are the .m4a, .m4b, and .mp4.

I allowed them to be added; however, I don't think they really allow metatags. So your best course of action would be to convert them until Microsoft comes out with a way to add meta content to them.

small thing to fix.

when you select more than one file to open, and its not a zmeta known file format, it will ask you for every one of those files what is it, can you make it also include all music all video?

What file formats were you adding?

The reason not all formats are allowed is because not all formats can have metatags.

Just added this, I'll be uploading a new version shortly, under the same link.

The new version should provide more insight to the user when they choose a file that isn't Taggable either.

New version up, let me know how it goes.

You should be able to install right over the last one, if not just uninstall through Add/Remove programs. (All subsequent versions will be able to be installed right over one another)
