Generation One 30GB Assistance, please!
Good morning, or afternoon for some of you. I was a Zune user the day that they launched- I loved the device, but hated that I couldn't get any accessories for it that didn't suck (I really needed an awesome FM transmitter, and Monster didn't make one for Zunes at that time.) So, after about a year or so, I switched to an iPod Touch. I've never liked it, mostly because iTunes is the worst software I've ever laid eyes on, but it worked with my old car. Now I have a new 2012 Focus with Sync installed, and my iPod is crapping out. So, to get ahead of the problem, I decided to go back to a Zune, because, honestly, they were better in every way and now I have a USB direct connection, so the accessories aren't a problem. You follow me so far?
Okay, well, I couldn't find my old brown Zune, so I bought a replacement on Amazon for about eighty bucks. Same Zune, 30GB, only this one is white. I set up my ZunePass and went nuts (downloaded two thousand songs so far; I feel like a glutton). All of this took place in the last couple of days.
Yesterday, my Zune all primed and ready to go, I went to plug it into the USB port on my car, to control it with SYNC by voice command, which is ridiculously convenient. Well, SYNC wouldn't recognize it at all; not even that there was a device connected. In fact, it screwed up some of my other voice command options, and it took me an hour or so to fix everything, with one exception- my Zune still cannot connect.
So I decided to do some research. It turns out that SYNC only lists compatibility with Zune devices running firmware version 3.0. My Zune is running 3.3__. So, here are my questions and pleas for help, along with an apology for talking so long to get to the point.
1. Would Sync not be able to recognize it because my Zune is running 3.3?
2. If yes, is there a way for me to roll back my firmware to 3.0?
3. If no to either of those, is there any way around this that any of you fine people have figured out thus far?
And, finally, 4. Is there anything else that you guys can think of that could cause this issue?
For your informational purposes: SYNC is for the Ford Focus 2012, MyFord Sync, not MyFord Touch.
Computer is Windows 7 64bit.
Anything else I can't think of; just ask and I'll fill you in.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me; it's really frustrating having to still use my iPod when I hate the damn thing.
