Post 1st Generation 30gb Zune HELP

Hello,
I recently bought a Zune 30gb off ebay.

I went to connect it to my computer, launched zune and it says Update 3.03 is available, won't let me do anything other than update.

So I click OK, it goes to update and I get

C00D11CD (800704DD)

I've spent 3 days reading around trying to fix this, I've done everything.

*Unistalled Zune, and Reinstalled
*Did a Hard Reset, cleared everything + Firmware

I try to reinstall firmware but I get the same thing over and over again.

I tried contacting Zune, they're just telling me to do everything I've already done. and it's making me quite angry.

Any information would be oh so greatly appreciated.

I suspect that your hard drive is toast! I had the exact same scenario on a broken Zune 30 off of Ebay and replaceing the HD fixed the problem. Good luck.

Also, when you attempt to upgrade, put the Zune to your ear, if it is making a clicking noise, then the HD is the problem.

If your uncle's computer works then why not try to sync a couple of tracks and see if it plays fine. It would help in troubleshooting exactly what the problem is here.

I'm close to agreeing with Rankin that it's a HDD problem but if you can actually sync and everything works fine then clearly that isn't the issue.

I've recently replaced my own 120GB hard drive after it failed, with the clicking noises like Rankin said (originally bought my Zune refurbished so this was an inevitability) and it's been running great ever since. If you're strapped for cash, replacing the HDD is the most cost-efficient way of fixing it in such a case.

Yeah, he can sync songs/videos and everything. It's the computer I think. When I go to My Computer > Devices>Hardware Manager the Zune comes up with a little yellow triangle, so I try to unistall and reinstall but everytime I go to install the device it always says "Cannot install the operation has timed out"
