I figured it out!! Turns out, it was the Zune PC side software. I put it in Windows 2000 compatibility mode and then I could see all the functions. (The buttons were missing when ran regularly but I didn't know.) It still doesn't work, though but I'll play with my settings.

I have Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3.
That is probably because I have it use the cool buttons. I will make a version for those who are stuck at the beginning of the decade.
Ha. My computer running Windows 7 is out of commission at the moment until I get a new power supply so I'm running off of my back-up. But thank you very much!
There is a small update. All of the changes have to do with the menu, and most are minor, so just see for yourself what is changed. I also added a version of the PC program for people that are running earlier versions of Windows than Vista.
Except for bug fixes (if any) and minor changes, there will probably be no more real updates for at least a month. This applies to all of my projects.
damn, i've been waiting for an app like this a long time, so i'm really happy you made it Netrix. but i have a little problem. when i connect trough LAN or Internet my zune gives me the message:'Unable to connect to the host. Make sure that there is a computer on your LAN that is running the PC app.' but the pc app is running and waiting for my zune to connect. I tried turning off my firewall, but it didn't help. I can however sync my zune wireless with my computer for the zune software.
I use windows xp SP3.
So if you have an idea to solve my problem, i would love to hear it.
PS: if i can get this app working i will donate 10$ for your efforts in creating quality apps
Not able to install this, but what would happen if I, say, opened a game through this? I've not used remote desktop software for much more than tech supporting.
This is very nifty, works like a charm. My only suggestion would be to implement an enter button on the keyboard. For example on facebook, you are only able to send a message through the chat with the enter key, you can't click to send. Other than that, this is pretty awesome

I wonder if any people that are using Windows XP can get it to work.

Read the second paragraph of "How to use:" in the first post.

I can get it to work with my desktop, but not my laptop. Any ideas, or is it not supposed to work...?
It should work on any PC, though there have been a couple people so far that are using Windows XP that are unable to get it to work.
I think it might be an XP thing I'm having a problem connecting too. I run the software on my computer, disable the fire walls, added port exceptions to windows firewall and even add exceptions for internal traffic to my router.
I'm running Win 7 on both computers. The only difference is that my laptop is using wifi, and the desktop is connected to the router via ethernet. I can't use the internet connection option because my router(I think..) is blocking incoming direct connections(or something). I was trying to set up a home server a few weeks ago and was using dyndns as a part of that, but no one outside my network could connect.

I forgot to say but I'm running XP SP3
It worked before on my 12-year-old HP desktop that is running Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs (Windows XP-based). I will try with the latest version of Remote Zune.
i try to connect, but every time i do it just says "unable to connect to the host. please verify that the host was entered correctly and that the port is forwarded, if necessary." it does this on lan and internet. anyone have some solutions?
oh, and i am using xp pro, since that seems to be making a difference.
