Default software wont install, stays on checking for updates
somewhat new user, had to reinstall due to virus. running vista 32bit, basic.
installer has stayed on checking for updates screen for a hour now, please help?

Its probably your computer or just download the software again

Or go to search and see it its still there

Right click the install file, go to properties > "Compatibility" tab and select "Windows XP Service Pack 2"

Is your computer/network set to block certain sites? Perhaps somethings interfering with how the website would tell your computer that there are no new updates.

my computer has no limitations on site usage. i even gave the startzune.exe special permissions through the firewall. any advice?

EDIT: ok, took the program files off of a friends computer and installed it that way. now i cant log in. help?

here's what i followed to get it working and it bypassed all of those problems like checking for updates or preparing pc.

can i just say drifted is a genius my problem is resolved thank you so much.....solved

yea ive had the same problem with windows XP for months it sucks i still cant figure it out it worked fine like 5 months ago but my brother recovered are computer for some dumb reason and now it just gets stuck on checking for updates
