"And then the third lesson and tip actually comes from two of my favorite political philosophers: Mao Tse Tung and Mother Teresa, not often coupled together, but the two people that I turn to most to basically deliver a simple point, which is, you're going to make choices."
Really? Mao Tse Tung? The same Chairman Mao who is responsible for the deaths of over 70,000,000 Chinese citizens during peacetime? That's who you hold as your favorite political philosopher?
God, all these White House advisers that look up to Marxist revolutionaries... it's scary.
We don't need no education!
We don't need no thought control,
No dark sarcasm in the classroom!
Teachers leave them kids alone,
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
I love it when ever people say something about a communist leader, or even Hitler(Yes, I know he wasn't a communist), if it's positive or neutral, everyone melts down like no tomorrow.
I think she was referring to the aspects of loyalty, Mao Zedeng had strong belief's in working for your country.

I agree with what you said, every time some communist idea or leader is mentiond everything goes to hell. Some of the best American systems like the public school system is a communist idea. Communist leaders did promote a type of ethics to be loyal to your country, however they just punished to harshly for breaking that rule.

You didn't agree with J2800 at all. That's like opposite of what he said. What you said contradicts him.

When a man's words are contradictory to his actions in the case of Mao Zedong, Adolf Hitler, et cetera. Are we still to praise those words?
An idea is not lessened by it's difficulty in being realized. Or in the case of 'Communism,' its never having been realized.

yes. the words are still useful and would be good to follow. We just don't praise them for saying it, because they were hypocritical in their actions.

Ah modern politics, when everyone is either pure evil or pure good and anything you say that can be twisted as sympathizing with someone deemed evil makes you evil.
Also she didn't say Mao was her favorite political philosophers, she said he was among her favorite political philosophers. So does that mean anyone who appreciates Plato's philosophy also believes the sun revolves around the earth? Does that mean anyone who hates jews speaks German? You can appreciate aspects of a person.
And honestly when I look at that quote, I read it as "you might do bad (as in Mao) or you might do good (as in Theresa), but you have to make choices and do something based on what you think is right (as in both)" with Mao as an opposing balance to Mother Theresa. God, people like you make me wish for pre-Jacksonian government

@Nurta
Politics have been like that for a long time. Though, that's insignificant.

@The topic:
This is what drives me nuts; Communism/Socialism/Hitler is so demonized to the point in this society where if anything neutral or positive is sad about them, the sayer is automatically being worse than Satan. In this society, if you take a positive factor, Hitler was intelligent and say that, you're as bad as someone who killed millions on basis of religon, race, handicapped, etc.(Hitler). Alas, it's the cool thing to do.
One thing I admire about Communism, Socialism, and Hitler is that they believed in patriotism. Let's compare this to America. Should you appreciate those who died, or should you just bitch and complain about Macy's being closed. Do you have the right to be pissed off that you didn't get a straw in McDonalds and blaming America, while millions have died just so you can bitch about it? Yes, you have the right, this is what divides us between the 3 we've been talking about. Keep an open mind, but don't let your brains fall out.
