I have been a wiccan for a while, and I am really comfortable with the religion. But while I was at my friends house for the night, my mother texted me asking what a satanic bible was doing under my bed.
I tried to explain that I am a wiccan, but that I don't do anything extreme like sacrifice any animals or stuff because I'm against animal cruelty. She was still scared about knowing that I am an wiccan and I have been for the past year.
She said that she was going to toss it into our fireplace, and i told her that if she burns my bible i will burn hers. but that was out of anger.
I seriously need help, what can I do to make my parents a little more comfortable with it? I know i maybe cant make them agree with me, but at least i want them to be a little more understandable.
There's not much you can do, except explain to them that it's not necessarily what they see in TV or read in books. Since it's inferred that your parents are Christian, I really can't blame them for freaking out - the rejection of Satan is such an integral part of that religion that it must be very difficult for them to accept. You might also explain to them the reason why you decided to become a Satanist.
Roebeet, thank you i will try explaining why i became a Wiccan. First i want to tell zB and possibly see if i am considered crazy or not, just before i tell my parents.
i became a satanist one day when i was thinking, and i noticed that in the christian religion, the God actually sacraficed his SON, for GODS wantings... i think if god was to really want to do something, he can go and do it his own self.
I started to look and i really wanted to find a religion that fits me and i came across Wiccan, with having a Goddess and a God, it makes more sense then some virgin having a kid. also, with Wicca i can also look upon the earth rather than some mystical creature, with the 5 elements of the pentagram. Earth, air, fire, water, and spirit. i can easily understand the religion since i can relate it to most of earths disasters and whatnot.
Its kind of hard to explain.

Well, I think a Wiccan is a lot easier for a Christian to deal with, than a Satanist. Religion is a very touchy subject, though - it depends on how opened minded they are. As long as you aren't hurting anyone, then who cares?

As a Christian, I'd personally find a Satanist easier to deal with than a Wiccan. A LeVeyan one, in any case.

Seriously, it sounds like a typical religion to me. Rituals, morality( doing something bad will come back at you three times as worse), and Gods/Goddesses. The two religions have similarities. Well good luck to you. Though Christianity(Yes, I'm a Christian) isn't to friendly with other religions. I have Christian friends, Athiest, one who may be partially buddist, and others.

He was being sarcastic to try to ease the tension, obviously you are quickly reading and reacting to what's happening so here is my advice.
Calm down, take a few deep breaths, and apologize for your anger towards your parents. If you respect them they will at some point respect you. Don't react with anger or violence to their questions or they will just be more against your choices.
In this section, more than any other section, it is heavily suggested, and recommended that one use the [.sarcasm] tags for sarcasm, since this section is not General, not Humor, not Zune, it is Serious Discussion.
Not to mention little sarcastic quips are not meant for here, unless they can serve the purpose of lightening the mood.
It is that way to avoid miscommunication issues just like that one.
Talk with your parents, and explain about your Wiccan path. I don't know, which exact school you are following so I cannot really point to sources for explanation. Suffice to say, you are not the only Wiccan who has ever had to explain Wicca to Christian parents. There are probably some good sources along with (par for the course) bad sources, I am sure you can discern, which is which.
The big thing is to clear up the confusion that has them thinking you are a Satanist, which is harder for a Christian to deal with than a non-Satan worshiping religion, despite what others might type or say.
You would had to have this discussion with your parents at some point. Things that are hidden will always come into the light, whether it is under the Sunlight or Moonlight.
Don't be overly sensitive, be sympathetic, and prepare yourself ahead of time.
You shouldn't have kept it from them in the first place. Hiding things this big only builds mistrust. They're your parents. They raised you, they cared for you, it's only right you be completely honest with them. May I suggest a book called The Teenage Book of Shadows by Patricia Telesco. This book was written to aid young people in the transition. There's a section in it devoted to how to come out to your parents about your decision to take the Wiccan path and how to explain to them exactly what Wicca is (and isn't, for that matter). Whether you choose to look into my suggestion or not is entirely up to you, but however you choose to explain to your parents, you must keep a level temper. Getting angry will only heighten their fear and misunderstanding.

The best way to proceed is to explain to them why you believe the way you do, don't try and change their mind, just make them accept your choice.
When my mom found out I was a atheist she freaked a bit, but after I explained that I just didn't believe that a man on high runs everything and is omnipotent, yadd yadda, she was better. She isn't happy, but she atleast isn't as freaked out.
I have a cousin who is Roman Catholic and I am not sure if she realizes I am atheist but when I stayed at their house for a week his mom said if I am staying in that house then I WILL GO TO CHURCH on Sunday if I like it or not.
I can't stand it when people try and "save" my soul.
And my advice you you is rhat you are a wiccan whether they like it or not.
my suggestion would be to sit your parents down and ask them their thoughts on the situation, and just try to get their ideas on the matter, and ask them what they know. then you should explain to them the whole idea of it, explaining what it is, the beliefs, practices, and everything else about it. just give them as much information about it as possible, so the will know more, and while they probably won't like the idea much more than they did before, they may be more comfortable with it.
