Default Dreams

What do dreams mean to you? Anything at all? Some sort of special revelation? Just random data? Do you even remember your dreams? Got any you want to share? Feel like I'm asking a lot of question? Do you think I should stop using question marks? Do you just want me to shut up now?

Please don't hurt me, I'm posting this at 1:30 in the morning. >.> Apparently anything seems funny then.

I believe that dreams, are random firings of receptors in the brain that trigger past memories and combine them with fantasies or something on your mind during stressful situations.

dreams are fun. I'm still sad when I got woken up during this really kickass dream and I still can't remember anything about it except that it was a ****ing awesome dream.

I remember I had this project where for a week I had to write down my dreams the moment I woke. This was actually a really fun project, and it was always really odd reading your dreams. Later we all as a class had analyzed each others dreams. If you want to try this make sure you write it down the second you wake. Otherwise you forget most of your dream in less than 5 minutes.

Yeah, I'd do that...if I actually remembered my dreams 99% of the time. I have never remembered having a dream when waking up with the exception of perhaps....20 times in my life. At most. But I can still remember them quite vividly, even to this day.

Try having a friend wake you before you wake. I know that's a little odd if you don't have a reason to do this other than you want to. (We had to for class) We also tried this ESP kinda thing. Where you would have a close friend stay awake and think of something. Doesn't matter what just something uncommon, so he//she cannot guess it. Wake them after you have done this and see if they saw what you "sent" to them. In my class my friend and I were the only people to actually complete this.

Thats odd, when I stress I have very intense dreams. I sleep far less though like 3 days a week, but when I do those dreams scare the living **** out of me. Which jsut so happened to be the week that I had that project.

From the little i know of psychology, i know that the dreams that people have dream during REM (or Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. REM sleep generally occurs at the start and end of the sleep cycle, and the most vivid dreams come at the end (i think) of your sleep cycle where REM sleep is most "vivid". If the sleep cycle is interrupted before this final period of REM sleep then dream will not have occurred yet (this happens is people are awakened by alarm clocks and get insufficient sleep).

Now, since i finished high school a week ago i have the privilege of sleeping without an alarm clock, and i can say for certain that i am having dreams which i can remember when i wake up a lot more often. During school i would only get 5 or 6 hours of sleep whereas now i get more then 8 and i'm finding it wonderful.
It feels really good when you can wake up and think, "Oh Yeah, I Actually Remember That!" And my dreams seem more realistic just before i wake up, i have woken up a few times confused as to why i'm in a bed and just generally disoriented.
If I remember to write down one of my dreams in detail, i'll be sure to post it here!

I believe dreams are just figments of your imagination and don't actually represent anything that may happen in the future.

A couple of my dreams:

dream #1

I was on a school bus with Jack and James (you guys don't know them) and we got dropped off at the Grand Canyon. Except everything was Styrofoam (white Styrofoam). James got lost and Jack and I went looking for him. We found James in a ditch about a mile deep (don't know how I knew the distance, I just did). When I looked in the hole, James was trying to eat his way out of it. *End*

dream.... correction: nightmare #2

(#) is the age at the time

I was in my dad's old backyard (it had bamboo shoots everywhere) and it was nighttime and there were tiki torches everywhere. My brother Matthew (9) was lying face up in the grass while my other brother, James (13) and I (8) were standing next to him crying. My dad was leaning over Matt on his knees with a butcher knife and he cut Matt open from his head slicing down longways. James and I were bawling while my dad continued to slice Matt open with an evil gleam in his eye. It terrifies me to this day to even think about it, let alone write it out. I've never told anyone about this dream ever before. It was my worst nightmare. After having this nightmare I had to sleep in my moms bed for a week. I didn't even tell her why. She was pretty confused though.

I dream of electric sheep,
of things that do not keep,
worlds unknown and known,
of places that have been visited,
and never before existed,
of the desperate,
to the opulent,
from a life of such succulence,
to a death of such virulence,
whether they are random firings,
of a creative mind,
or the invasion of an otherworldly kind,
matters not to me,
for dreams are where I will see,
all things that come to be.

Anyways, my dreams are violent and often involve someone mutilating themselves. >.>

Remind me not to pop up in your dreams anytime soon. Speaking of dreams, I've only had one I could remember since I posted these dream topics, and it wasn't about anyone here. ;_;
