Yeah, the RIAA is sad. They just have no morals, especially when they detect the faint smell of money.

The case was dropped after they figured out that he was poor. They've got bigger fish to fry. Seriously, they have to keep themselves busy somehow.

Well, I've heard some pretty bad stuff about the RIAA. Like suing pets and other crazy stuff. I expect that's made up though.

...Yeah, that sounds a little far-fetched , though they do seem to stay in the news (at least for those who read about technology). Though I agree that piracy is wrong, it's suspicious to me as to how they obtain information about who is downloading what. They also seem to prey on people, especially college students, like some ravenous beast. Seriously, I wonder how much money they burn a year with all of these cases and if they're even helping to fix the issue.

Next they'll try to sue a deceased person.

They already did that. Well, it turned out he was dead, but the RIAA went after his children. They quickly dropped the case, though. Idiots...

Wow... I really can't think of anything to top that, lol. Maybe they'll be like Ernie Chambers and try to sue God. Except for money instead of damages.

What I don't get about pirating for personal use is this: The reason people pirate stuff is because, given the choice, they don't think whatever they're pirating is worth paying for. There are movies, for example, that I never saw at the theatre, never saw on DVD, nor would I lose any sleep if I never saw them on any format EVER, much less actually purchase. So how can I be stealing, when you weren't going to get my money anyway?! The only way I'll watch some of the junk is if it's free, which I get plenty of access to do anyway. Now, if I were ripping said movies and tried to sell them to make money on he side....

Now that's piracy. Most people don't sell their torrents for money. It's illegal file-sharing more than piracy.

I find it ironic that the RIAA is suing people for pirating music, when they themselves rob the artists themselves of ownership of their art.

^ I've stopped referring to them as the RIAA because I really don't think they do much for the Artists part of their name.
