I know, its sad. His only charge is possession, which even I possess stuff that can be sort of stated as illegal (it is legal on a technicality) but it doesn't harm anyone or myself by possessing it.

Yet in this instance he was more of dealing it out to people...no guarantee on if he wasn't spiking it. Grey area issue but I agree that the life sentence or comparable sentence to a murderer, rapist, etcetera is a little harsh unless he is charged with other stuff that warrants that sentence.

Yes, he was obviously selling, hence my comment about not promoting it.

I think it should. People can make their own choices.
If it was legal, I don't think people would be so eager to try it, anyways.
Besides, pot isn't as bad as the other illegal drugs.

I'd say yes. I mean if you look at the countries that have it legalized they're crime rate is much lower than those who don't. I mean come on who's it going to hurt. And the govt could tax the hell out of it.

It could work, I used to smoke at the very least a dime a day, and this went on for 4-5 years. It got old though, and once I quit I felt more alive. I guess because I wasn't as lazy, ha.

This was sort of a gateway drug for me though and led to a lot of other stuff, partying like I was 30 when I was 16-20, but looking back it was a good thing. I got all that stuff out of my system at an early age and now I just focus on life, hell, the last time I had a drink was probably sept of last year. Not because I think it's bad, but because I just got all that stuff out of my system already.

I have some really good stories and memories from this era of my life, and I can say I do feel somewhat bad for people who will never experience this type of stuff because it is deemed illegal and wrong; but then again some people just can't handle that type of stuff.

Iced cream and Doritos will never taste as good though, ahh!

KN

My teacher told me that if the world would start growing marijuana that it would end deforestation because weed can be made into paper and it can be grown a lot faster then trees. That the only reason its illegal in most states is because the Lumber Company and the Tabbaco companies pay of senators to vote against making weed legal because it will destroy there companies. He also said that the original levis were made of weed and that the Declaration of Independence was made out of paper that was once weed.

what you're all seeming to forget is what i said on the first page...
if you take marijuana away from the drug dealers and organized crime by legalizing it, you'll actually end up with a negative effect. marijuana is one of the biggest industries in the world and if the dealers aren't making money off of it, they'll turn to crystal meth, cocaine and heroin to make their money. it also takes away hundreds of jobs from specialized task forces that take down grow ops. here in bc we have a "green team" that has 70 police officers on it dedicated to taking down grow ops.

decriminalization on the other hand makes sense. penalize growers and dealers, and slap a fine on the people caught smoking weed in public places. that way the legal system is not clogged up with a bunch of ridiculous marijuana possession cases, the growers and dealers are still employing the police, and harsher drugs are not being forced onto the street to make up for the lost income from weed.
