you cant really lose energy......if the sun goes out it would mean that all its energy is used up meaning that it is now somewhere else.......and the sun is not hte only source of energy in the universe............energy cant be created or destroyed, only transferred.

also, any particle will always have energy because once it loses all of its energy, that is absolute zero.

I recall there being an article on Digg about this exact topic. I'd have to look it up but know it's there.

meh. I remember reading an article on this that basically gave a number where relativity comes in and the atoms speed up very little. The plank temperature is the most logical. At least it isn't based on the string theory... But yeah, when physics breaks down, we usually call that the max on all scales.

The idea of negative temperature is somewhat ridiculous since there is alot of energy in the universe when you come down to it (take all the mass in the universe and multiply it by C, add the potential energy and real energy, it's a ton) but not infinite. To go past infinite temperature means going past infinite energy, ridiculous to say the least. In the same way, something below absolute zero is ridiculous in the literal sense, unless it gets negative mass...

there was this pbs video we watched on string theory once it was really good......you should look for it and watch it youd like it, it had to do with what you are saying.

Elegant Universe is it? I tried watching it online once and it didn't work well. I find string theory a bit ridiculous honestly, it has no real scientific basis.

yeah i know........but the different universes stuff makes sense to me, like you could have another dimesion right next to u and not be aware of it. imaine if we only had 2 dimesnions, like if we lived on a movie screen. there would be a third dimesion (the audience) and we wouldnt be able to see them or be aware of htem because we couldnt see in the third dimesion......we would only be aware of things on the plane of the movie screen. hope that makes more sense

I know the idea. I like the classic example of the flatlanders. But it making sense doesn't make it true, unfortunately.

Dimensions >4 are interesting, but they're unproven.

As well, the idea of parallel Universes is also interesting, but unproven. It has a vague element of elegance, but little scientific proof.

i know.........but at one point gravity was not proven either........im not saying string theory is true but its a definite possibility, its just a theory.

Well, no theory is ever completely proven, but string theory has barely (if at all) enough evidence to even call it a theory. It has been around for quite some time now, and it has produced no predictions.

Gravity was a theory...now it's a law. Absolute hot is impossible to find, unless u harness all the energy in the universe.

Oh, well.. Plants would die, animals would die, and then people would die. So either way, we'd be ****ed :P

HA! that'd be cool to watch right? I'm still getting a headache just by thinking about all these hot temperatures.
