@outkast: You need XNA Game Studio 3.0 FINAL (CTP or Beta will not work)
@seb: 19 MB includes all, music, game, graphics... the final version will only get some more MB for graphics. I guess the final version will end up with 25-30 MB.
@Death: It must be your internet connection. I just downloaded the whole package with 700 KB/s
@all: I am going to sleep now Good night (1:20 am here)
i love it. this game is great played only a little but still that little bit has just made my day but sadly i can't play all of it tonight i got a play and tomarrow is closing night so thanks for the game. and i must say that you have inspired be to learn C# or C++ thanks again Dirk a.k.a. DiNoGames
suggestions so far after 5 minutes in game:
-health bars for enemies! i can hardly see the rats, and don't know when they're dead!
-with menus, instead of selecting it, you can press left up down right to select it, would make it a little bit easier =)
that's it so far! great job on graphics, music, gameplay, GAME!
thanks for this dirk!
edit: oh, also, if you fireball a barrel, it doesn't break, burst into flames, or blow up! please make it breakable by spells!
edit2: and touch! please add touch! i got an 80 for a reason =P (probably an option, i looked there right away and it was missing =P)
edit3: are spells like fireball supposed to take mana? it doesn't seem to be
also, I was standing on loot, and a rat was attacking me. i pressed center and it attacked even though i was facing the other way. Maybe change the priority if you're facing a different way?
also, the sparkles of loot look very similar to WoW =P
edit4: suggestion: when you have a rune equipped, have it show the number of runes left
When it started i walked to the left and began to fight a goblin. After using a fire ball thing i turned into a goblin. while being a gobli i could walk but not fight or do anythin and when i tried using the fireball thing again it showed him shooting it on his back.

But other than that AWESOME game!
It sounds like the problem is that you died. :p

I was starting to get a bit worried about this game, but it's now obvious that you weren't BSing about the time you spent on it. The whole thing exudes quality. Great job
A few comments:
- When allocating attribute points, the point values should all add up to the same number. Having the qualities of the character vary from game to game is an OK idea, but having them be greatly superior or inferior at the luck of the draw...isn't. (Another option is to just let the user allocate the points themselves out of a fixed total)
- While playing, I wasn't able to use any of the items I picked up save the club because they required levels much greater than my character. Since it takes exponentially increasing XP to make it to the next level, you can't realistically expect someone to make it to level 5 right at the beginning of the game (for the rod) or even level 10 (for the healing potion).
- The rats are ridiculously strong - why would a he-man like Valgard require numerous blows to take out a miniscule rat. At the same time, health regenerates much too slowly. By the time even a small amount of health regenerates, an enemy will have found and slaughtered your character. It would be a good idea to either greatly increase the health regeneration rate or greatly reduce the strength of the NPCs (at least the initial ones).
- The main menu looks great, though the Options submenu needs a total redesign. At the moment it looks just like Alien Game with a different font, which isn't a good thing.
- The animation on the loading screen is heavily blocky - it looks like it's being stretched significantly. Bad idea for image quality.
- It would be a good idea to introduce the user a bit more slowly. A good way to do this would be to lighten up the pace a bit and display info on the controls in a discreet fashion. A good example would be the first level in HL2, where small messages like "F: FLASHLIGHT" appear on-screen as part of the HUD. Don't make an overt tutorial mission; those are always a complete drag and piss off anyone already acquainted with the game.
Of course, this is just a preview, and you may have already considered a lot of the stuff I mentioned above already. I'm sure the final will be great, and it's definitely something I'm looking forward to.
Once when I died during the game, I somehow turned into one of those little goblins with swords... after a while I died and it went through the regular "game over" process, but is this supposed to happen, as some sort of magic spell? Just reporting what I experienced.
Anyways, great job on this game. Everything is awesome.
Sometimes while just walking, I'll randomly gain experience. I was walking through Region 4, I wasn't even fighting, and I gained a level.
That brings me to something else...in Region 4, the rat place down the stairs near the beginning, there are some invisible treasure chests. You cannot see them, but you cannot walk where they are, but the hand pops up to show that it's there. I don't know if this is intentional or not, however.
This is an amazing game, but (I don't like doing this great games) I feel that I should report these little things so it can keep getting better.
With that being said, the non-bug things I noticed that could make the gaming experience better are: (Itsnotabigtruck said some of these in his previous post)
-Loading Screen is stretched
-The little wait after turning before walking is too long (in my opinion)
-Rats are overpowered
-There needs to be more weapons for 1-4, or lower the current requirements.
-Add touch (I'm buying a 120Gb Zune soon )
That will be all, continue your great work! Programmers like you are the ones who will help the Zune become the iPod killer it was designed to be

Dirk, you are amazing, putting this game out, albeit a preview. is amazing, all of the things you went through these last few months and still kicking this game. There are so many people here who would kiss you for this, and this community is in debt to your service to making one of the best games for Zune, You Truck, Netrix, Nurta and all of the other zBP have done amazing work. working with an item with so many limitations and still producing the amount of quality apps and Games is really something else. There is so much more I could say but to suffice it, you have my gratitude, as well as you other programmers, you all deserve more than some people realize. Keep it up.
