Default Zune Password Protected files?

I was wondering if it's even possible. To have a password protected file or folder, photos for instance how the photos are stored in seperate folders on the zune to have a hack where you can set a password for one of those folders? I have a few personal pictures I like to keep on my zune of my gf yet my family and brothers and friends always wanna use my zune.

I would love To Be able to password protect my zune, I go to a Christian School and I got some movies like 300 that they would not want to see on my zune.

Since there is no way to input on the zune, password protection wouldn't be possible for a long time.

There are ways to input. Otherwise how do you navigate the zune? I know on the Xbox 360 to set a pass for the parental controls you can use the d-pad or the a b x y buttons. Couldn't there be the same thing for the zune? You could use a 5 or 6 character combination of the ring, the select button, or the play/pause button.

Yews, password protection would be possible, but only MS can do it. One thing you could try to do for picture files is make a maze of folders, make folders a-z and in each of those put in a-z of folders and so on for maybe 4 times, then you have a 4^26 protection unless they view the photos by date added. ALthough you maty have to add a picture in each of the 4^26 end folders...

Yes yes, we all want to password protect our porn, but until we can successfully execute our own firmware, it's impossible.

Come on, you know what I meant. Like a soft keyboard. And no, there CANT be the same thing for the zune until we get our own firmware on there.

you could always creat your own hardware that detects button clicks and when the write combo is inptuted (is that a word) it takes the zune off hold. Good luck though in trying to fit that in the zune case. i would di it if i werent so lazy.

Well yes I know that. A lot of the major hacks involve writing out own firmware (not likely sometime soon) or M$ going open source with the Zune (which would never happen) although I'm thinking that there might be some way to intercept the firmware through the usb cable, when its being transfered to the zune. once we had the firmware, I guess it'd be a month before we had the net working, and passwords, and basically anything else we want.

But like I said. I know most things are dependent on that firmware.

We have had the firmware forever, all versions of it are available for download in the firmware section (except 1.0).

Then after that I'm guessing the problem is how to install it, correct? If you have it and can modify it, the only thing left is to put it on the zune. which I'm going to take a stab here and suppose that MS restricted anything but it's signed firmware from running on the zune.

correct, the firmware has to be signed, which you would realistically need to rent out a supercomputer for months in order to crack. Plus, it can only be decompiled so far, until it is still hard to modify it, so it would be more efficient to do it from alternative sourcecode, but without MS' sig, we are stuck.
