Tried for several days to get WMP 11 to work. Called Zune tech Support Level 2. Ultimate resort was to reload WMP 10 and that worked. Its bizarre that MS would release WMP 11 w/out support for the Zune!

WM 11 recognizes I have a device connected, it just doesn't know it's a Zune.

Hmm... that's odd, see, The Zune isn't an MPT device (Although it can be altered to be recognized as one by some registery editing, or a simple driver change), so it should not sync with WMP, hense the Zune software.

I was just going to suggest this... If it could sync with WMP11 it woudl be awesome. But there are massive feature-gaps in WMP11 and I don't see anybody getting a WMP11 SDK any time soon.......

i heard that - but wmp10 sucks so bad you are MUCH better off with Zune software...

I think this is just a fake WMP only recognizes MPT devices... which led me to this experiment:

Uninstalled Zune Drivers
Installed as MPT device
WMP does not recognize, Windows shows no data in the Zune as a Portable Audio Device.
Back to registry, changed device type to 0, 1, and then back to 2... no luck

If this is real, what did this person do??
