ZPfL(zune partion for linux)

i'd like to call this...parting a zune hd to put linux/alternat firmware on(aka.ZPfL(zune partion for linux)

now if we can posibly partion a zunes hd then we can bypass the handshake, encrepted firmware and put rockbox or linux (think ipod linux but for zune) on to our newly created partion

as for tips well... this hasent been done before so ....

Yeah, you wouldn't be the first to try. And it didn't work for them either. For the Zune hardware to allow access, it needs to be a digital signature match. Also, the handshake has nothing to do with alternate firmware, only syncing and wireless. Unless you run approved firmware that matches the digital signatures on the validation chip on the circuit board, which is protected by another set of digital signatures, the Zune will not work. If anything, target the chip, not the hard drive.

so if i hear you right then if i flash the chip with my own validation codes i (technically) could run code with that signature? or if i found the code for my individual zune and sine(?) my unsigned code with it i could run linux on it?

Flashing doesn't work, it's been tried. And finding the key to that digital signature would require industrial espionage. You'd need to find a way to bypass the chip entirely yet still accomplish anything it may have done.

so if lets say we bypass the chip by forcing it run our firmware for preloded ram/force boot sector(/partion)... then booting the os/gui
