Lyrics.txt batch downloader

This would be a seriously useful application for people who love to have lyrics on their zune, say by using the book reader.

This would simply be a program that will read the filename or metadata of an mp3 (or mp3s), and would grab the artist name and song name and look it up on some server which will have lyrics stored in txt format, and it will download the lyrics under the same name of the mp3 file name but only with "_lyrics.txt" or something at the end.

Example:
INPUT:
Filename: c:\music\slayer\reign in blood\01 - angel of death.mp3
Song Title (metadata): Angel Of Death
Artist (metadata): Slayer

OUTPUT:
Filename: c:\lyrics\01 - angel of death_lyrics.txt



i hope this makes sense.

The problem with that is that I don't think any existing lyrics sites use a .txt file for their lyrics. A programmer would be responsible then for making their own lyrics database.

no, they could just pick a reliable lyrics site, and do whatever to get the page and then just use a little combination of persistence and regex to get the lyrics. It'd be a pain in the ass most likely, especially since most lyric sites suck balls...

I know that someone made an program that looked at LyricWiki and grabbed lyrics for whatever song the Zune software was playing. I can't spot the topic at the moment, but it was recent. It should be adaptable to this use.

your talking about that, i think. for the batch downloader it shouldnt be made just for zune tho, like the zunelyrics grabs the songs played through the zune program. a batch downloader should give you the option to find a folder on your harddrive and collect the songs within the folder and subfolders.
