I've been hacking my RAZR lately
and i have seen that the motorola phones have a bootloader mode for flashing/reflashing firmware onto it.
Maybe i was messing with the Zune 30's button combos and the one where it whipes the zune clean of everything seems kinda like the phones bootloader mode. Could there possibly be a way to put it into the firmware free screen and load our own firmware onto the zune?
Maybe write a program that connects to the zune's firmware loading screen?
Just shooting out ideas so tell me if my head is in the clouds or if its close to possible.

Quite simply, no. The problem isn't removing the firmware. It's getting this little chip on the Mobo to accept it. All Zune firmware is digitally signed, so it needs to pass that check. In order to bypass the check, we would need to crack a different digital signature. These things check bit by bit, so we can't really sneak anything though. >.>

I thought i was onto something good too. haha
but what type of chip is it thats needed to be bypassed?
Is there any sort of way to install a modded version of the chip?

Well, it may be possible to remove the chip, and it's been discussed before, but we'd need a few Zunes first. >.> No one's ever committed to it. If you want more technical details, you can ask itsnotabigtruck, he's pretty up on what little we know about hacking the Zune.
