I think it would be a great idea if someone created a messenger for the zune that connected to your wireless at home or anywhere where there is a hotspot, and see who else is signed in and you could text to your friends using the internet from home or other wireless hotspots. I've seen (ZIM), but you could only use that from 30-60 feet away. Talk about useless. Maybe an upgrade on (ZIM) that alows you to connect to the internet wirelessly of course and text people around the world. If this does come out. I would definatly pay 20 bucks for it. But free would be nice.

Cloud Strife,
For the Zune sofware. just an application that connected to the internet wirelessly and allows you to text friends. Like connecting to yahoo messenger, or msn, aol.... Or maybe even an Instant Messenger just for zunes itself like (ZIM)-Zune Instant Messenger, but uses your internet at home to text people around the world.

Ah, ok. Your post wasn't too detailed, so I didn't know

Wait, are you talking about IM inside of the Zune software on the computer?
1: We can't hack the software like that.
2: If you're on the computer already, why not just use WLM, AIM, Yahoo, etc.?

what he or she is talking about is like when u are lets say at school and lets say mabey your mom has a zune so that you could use the wifi in you school if you had it and ur mom had it that you can ummmmmm say like whats for dinner or something you kno
how is it impossible? couldnt you somehow go through the zune market connection that you get when you connect to your network??
i mean they found out how to pass text through the wifi connection true? and they've already set up a perfect path to the internet you just need to find some way to use that connection to facilitate that im client to getting to the internet to use it i myself would love to do this
another idea for people who have wifi at school and friends with zunes since XNA allows the zunes to talk to one another; make a portable version of XNA...
though self critiquing myself here... how to bypass the school firewall so not only would we ( students ) have to get past the blockage of the firmware but also the firewalls of school wifi... not like we havent done that before... so we would also need the port of which zune goes through....]
oh and sorry about the rambling...though in retrospect they are some true points =D

this is just some thing i ran into on the site. it said some thing about xna and that the games can talk z to z but will not allow the app to talk out side of zune to zune. but some thing to think about is maybe not talk directly to the router but rather have the computer do it for you. you can sync files over the wifi network through your computer so why not messages. modd the software and the xna so that you can transfer txt. then set up a server so that when the message is sent it goes to the computer then server back to the other computer and then to the intended zune user. i know this contradicts the reason of doing this, but if your sitting on the couch and you have a desktop i would personally rather have a zune to message with rather than the desktop in my lap.
