Default Never Recharge Zune

Hack Title: Never Recharge Zune
Description:Put a simple solar panel in the back of the zune and hook it up to the battery.
Tips:Some simple screwing, cutting, soldering, and glueing should make it work.
Extra:It would be cool to have it so you can plug it in the old way and make it work then to in case of cloudy days.

It voids your warranty.
Go to Best Buy, for like $45 you can get a solar panel that has a usb plug in.
TO CHARGE YOUR ZUNE, without voiding your warranty.

I was thinking about that, but doesn't the Zune have its own special USB plug because the other side of the Zune USB is a normal one and the one that goes on the Zune is its own special thing.

This is in fact a very nice gadget. Maybe not the most aesthetic looking thing but functional. Most "geeks" prefer function over form anyhow.
I found this one for a somewhat reasonable price usbgeek.com/prod_detail.php?prod_id=0680

there was another thread talking about this, i forgot where someone was like actually working on it. personally i don't think you'll ever get enough power from a solar panel that's small enough to be portable. if solar panels really worked well sun powered cars, power plants and houses wouldn't SUCK!

do any of u remember the small solar panels on the calculators in the good old days? they were very aesthetic .. and in no way look retarded.

i really wonder why none of the gadgets these days come with solar panels? is it hard to build them? is it not capable of supplying the needed power?

They don't use them anymore because they don't really fit with the design of most modern gadgets, and most of the calculators' solar panels wouldn't supply enough charge to do much for modern batteries. It would be better to have, I think it was called a Splash Pad. For any enabled device, you would place it on the pad and it would recharge. The pad had it's own battery, charged by solar power. Thus, you could leave the pad out to gain power and charged the device whenever you wanted. You didn't have to leave the device in the sun, so you could store it and use it however you wanted. Only the pad itself needed the sun.
