Default Painting Guitar Hero guitar

I'm planning on painting my Guitar Hero Xplorer guitar, and I'm hoping some of you guys can give me some designs or ideas. Here is a picture of the guitar as it comes out of the box.

The only thing I don't want to paint are the buttons, strum bar, neck, whammy bar...basically the buttons and black parts of the guitar.

I thought about doing a design such as this, but then I thought it'd look pretty odd on this shape of guitar.

Here's some examples of what some have done.
Here
Here (Looks cool but he did lots of work)

The only 'restriction' I'd ask for is that it must be able to be spray painted. No elaborate custom designs such as this.

I'll be taking the front and back off if I can. I haven't taken it apart yet. I'm not too sure how flames would be done though...what type of flames are you thinking of?

Hey do something like this! It would be sweet!

If you don't like that, do a skull with flames!

That'd be pretty cool, but how would I get the tiger/skull onto the guitar? I'm only planning to use spray paint...

Two ways, get some sticker paper and print the picture out on sticker paper
and cut the picture to your liking and put it on your guitar or you could search
some pictures of tigers from all different angles and you could draw a rough sketch
onto the guitar with pencil or something, then highlight the main lines, making them
darker and then paint inside the lines!

I really don't want to put stickers in my guitar...I think it makes it look cheap, and I'm horrible with drawing..so the designs have to be pretty simple.

i was thinking flames like this

paint the guitar.
then tape it ...
trace the flames n lightly cut the tape
then spray flames color(multi colors for cooler effect)

Hmm..that's definitely possible...I'll have to look up what I need to do to make it multicolored so it would look more realistic.

Which way on the guitar would it be? At the bottom part or along the side?

Do you mean bottom as your looking at the picture in the first post, or the bottom if the guitar is in a stand?

What's a good background color for the flames?

edit: Wow, after looking up how to make realistic flames, I have more respect for those people who paint them. It seems it would take forever! There's around 20 layers with an airbrush...

Creating the stencil: Wrap your guitar in masking tape on the side you want the design to be on. After three or four layers, you're good to go. Take an exacto knife or box cutter or other cutting utensil and cut out the design on the bare plastic. Do that lightly so you don't put deep scratches in your guitar.

First off, you're going to want to sand it a bit with a fine (~200) grit sand paper. Next, blast the guitar with some plastic primer (from about 6" - 8" away in a sweeping [left to right, right to left] motion, releasing the trigger at the end of each sweep). wait for that to dry and start the tricky part. You're going to pick your design and pick your color and lay down the base coat. Let's call it black. Lightly coat your guitar in black every thirty (30) minutes for 4 - 8 coats. You now want to lay a few layers of clear coat on it and let that dry. Wait 48 hours and put your stencil on the guitar (note: for the design to come out looking nice, make sure that all of the edges are tight against the guitar so no paint escapes. If paint does escape, sand down the area lightly with a high-grit sandpaper (~200) with light water and then clear-coat the guitar again). The clear coat will help the paint keep from coming off. Now sand the area where your paint will be to remove some of the clear coat so your job will be done nicely. Paint the area of the stencil very lightly, with 5 - 10 coats (again, following the every thirty (30) minutes rule. Now throw on some clear coat and give it another 48 hours and remove the stencil. You're good to go now! Just reassemble the guitar and get back to rocking.

Is that referring to the flames? Or just a stencil idea?

That's not something I'd do, but that looks sweet.

I'd probably completely butcher that if I tried to do that.
