Default Faster Software

Is there a way to speed up the Zune software? I know in the previous release you could disable the market place and that did wonders to speed up the process (that's Zune1.0 software).

do you have xp ? and do you have a dual core processor? if you have xp, you can change the process priorities one by one by using the "taskman" program, and you would mainly look through all processes running on your computer and setting them all to low priority, and then set the zune software at a higher priority.... as far as dual core processor, you can set "processor affinity" on the same processes page from taskman... and if you set most programs to the 2nd core only (CPU1 checked, and CPU0 unchecked) and set zune to use both then you should also get a higher speed out of the zune software.

If you're using windows vista, there's a program called superfetch. You can set the zunesoftware as one of the superfetched programs. It'll load significantly faster.

You could also just leave the zune software on at all times. When you need the zune software, just maximize the window.

There are softwares which make extra screens for you. It allows you to create extra screen, thus you can hide your programs when you don't need them. It's similar to gridvista on an ACER laptop.

I'm sure as more things are released the software will get a bit faster though.

MOAR RAM might help you though.

way to speed it up A LOT:
close zune software if its open
right click on zune icon on desktop, select properties
under Target it should say "C:\Program Files\Zune\Zune.exe"
add -gdi to the end of it, so it says "C:\Program Files\Zune\Zune.exe" -gdi

click ok.

What exactly does this do?

And the problem isn't so much how fast it starts up. I should have clarified that. It's about how much it slows down my computer while running. Sometimes it lags my text while typing, and it makes other programs run slow while it's running. It isn't podcasts downloading as I unsubscribe from all of my podcasts so I can pick and choose the episodes I want. Any guesses?

Litestep is an alternate explorer shell that will speed up everything on your comp, not to mention make it look really sweet.

I'll check it out, and by the way, I do have Windows XP. I failed to clarify that as well :P.

it gets rid of any fancy useless animations in the software. it will speed it up, and should help your computer.

Yes it is from what I hear. I'm running it right now. Finding a good theme has been the only snag I've had so far, but now I think I'm in good shape.

When I try that it gives me an error saying the name is not valid. Any thoughts? The Zune software realllllly slows down my whole computer and it's very annoying hearing the fan running at full speed the whole time the program is open.

Put a space between the quotation mark and before the -gdi.
