Well, maybe later on down the road, but I don't think Zune and Windows Messenger are sync'd just yet, but like I said, maybe later down the road. Heck, maybe later down the road Windows Media Player will be no more and it'll just be the Zune software, or it'll only be the WMP and not Zune. Nobody knows what the future holds, we all just take guesses and hope it's right or wrong.

They are , if you change your login details (i.e the email address) when you login in to the social it automatically changes the email address used to login into live messenger. Try it out if you dont believe me.

EDIT: So jtomasrl your idea is not impossible, it might even require the same coding as the WMP to show what your are listening to.

As of now, no. You can only do that in Windows Media Player.

Well actually, if someone knows anything on how to retrieve the currently playing song (on the zune), I could make an app to retrieve that data and display it as the currently playing song on windows live messenger.

The zune software retrieves the information, doesn't it?

but i DO know that it can be done with the zune software...but...nobody has figured it out yet...i know this because friends at foxy tunes(you know, the plug-in for firefox) cant seem to get the zune software to take controls from another program...pretty odd when the company that invented the active-x-control-security-hole also wrote the software for the zune.

i know that you can do it with media monkey...and zAlternator allows you to sync to a zune using media monkey....so....do that!

that didnt help did it... i suck at this

ok, one more thing, i used to use this program that did exactly that...with winamp... http://info2.winamp.com/plugins/details/143791...with this crap it worked with yahoo...but its old...and kinda lame...media monkey is built on winamp's frame... so heres the idea:
they made one of these for wmp 9 and 10 also...and zune is built off wmp11's frame, so just find out if someone made that plugin for wmp11 and find the same values in zunes software
