I have a home AV dock with IR remote that I would like to mod for use in my truck. The AV dock would actualy not be Mod only the sync cable. It is a pretty simple concept i just can't locate one part. I need the female 16pin (i think) connection. (it is the same connection in the bottom of the Zune.) The way it would work is the main dock would be located in the dash or air vent. I would remove the dock case and cover so I only have the circut board with the inputs and IR reciever. The Power would be supplied through a 12V hardwired DC adaptor to the back of the dock (using a canabalized DC chager and connector). The AV- output would use the same wires and connect to the dock using the 4 pin jack to RCA. The RCA cables will connect to the Brain of my Alpine head uint. Then I need to mod a sync cord so I can attach it to the dock (this is where the Zune would normaly sit) The sync cord would then run to my glove box or arm rest storage where I would connect the Zune. The Zune can charge, be out of site and controled with the remote via TV out. I can then watch and listen to all the media on my Alpine Media system.
What do you think? Can anyone find this connector so i can build the cord? ![]() |

have you seen any of these for purchase? I do not have the percision tools to make the sodder connections. I was hoping to do a wire splice. I would pay someone to do the soddering if we could find the part?

I have been digging and found that the connector is made by Foxconn. It is a 24 pin I/O female connection. I have the link to the page but can't post the link for some reason. The link has all the product specifications. I do not have the tools to make the percision sodders required for this connection so, If I were some how able to get some of these Is there anyone here willing to sodder them for me?

Hey flynbrian I've been trying to find this part also, but I was about to rip apart a dock to get the foxconn 24 pin female socket. You will probably need the male end also as the sync cable only has 3 or 4 wires inside of it, and you will have to make the whole extension cable from scratch.
I don't currently have the soldering equipment to do this but I will be getting whatever it takes to make it work. |

Soundgate has an interface for Zune (all versions) using the docking port (Zune Core, ZNCBLPAK, $69). This interface provides left and right audio and video outputs, and charge input to the Zune. The interface uses the vehicle 12V-ACC supply, but a cigarette lighter plug is also provided.
The audio and video outputs must be enabled by the Zune using some sort of handshaking. The output from the core replicates the headphone output jack (4-circuit mini jack) rather than providing RCA connectors. The replicated jack does not respond to volume control changes on the Zune itself. An optional remote control is planned to replicate the basic controls (up, down, left, right, and center, but not back or pause), and plugs into the Core interface. Soundgate ZNCBLPAK CORE™ Zune™ Cable Pack Its occurred to me to get the Zune dock V2, and hack it as needed to emulate the Core interface. However, I would still need to provide the 5V for charging, possibly buffer the audio (and video), and I would lack the latching docking port connector. An alternative would be to pick up any of the dock/transmitter/charger devices and extract the audio as needed. The DLO TransDock is especially interesting as it provides a suitable docking cable, a line-in to the FM transmitter, a line-out from the Zune, and a charger. Consider disabling the transmitter, and bringing the line-outputs via hardwired RCA jacks rather than the mini-stereo jacks provided. A problem may exist with respect to excessive noise (Zune HDD operations? Alternator noise?) that may require additional audio processing/buffering. Another alternative (using any docking style device with A/V outputs) would be to try to reverse engineer the required handshaking signals that enable the Zune outputs. A regular sync cable has only 5 circuits (D+(pin 21), D-( pin 20), 5V(pin 1), Ground(pin 22), and shield(pin 19)). I still don't have a part number or URL for the male Zune connector. Does it latch? Bring out all 24 circuits (or at least the circuits Gregory referred to). |

The connector inside my Zune 30GB appears to be the Foxconn QS10247-Fxx
Search foxconn.com for the QS Part Number. They have a drawing that looks just like it. I am looking to buy one but can't find it anywhere. I could solder it on myself. It would take a microscope, fine tip iron and a steady hand. I'm not sure if I would trust myself to fix anyone elses but I'll try it out on my own first. What the heck it's dead without it. Does anyone know where I could get this connector? Foxconn directed me to their distributors: Heilind Electronics and Future Electronics. Seem to be lost in their shuffle so far since I'm not buying thousands for a production line. |
