Default Clock

When I first got my Zune80 I pluged it in to charge, when it powered on there was a clock displayed, it wasnt the correct time foe my area but it was deffinatly a clock. I dont know why MS decided to hide it from users but all Zunes have the hrdware to support it.

I have the original 30, and I never got this when I plugged mine in. I think it was already said somewhere, but the Zune already has a clock for that 3 Day 3 Play rule that was 1/2 way abolished. Thanks for telling us though about the first time charging thing.

Anyone else get this?

Got the same thing but is not an actual clock its a "please wait" clock. its showing a fake time to tell you that is working on something, kinda like the sand thingy when waiting on something to load on the computer.

u guys have to understand, to put a clock in would involve hacking the firmware. Something we have yet been able to truely do. The info is all out there, u can get the firmware file off your computer (like us H&M members have), you can decompile it (like we did), mess with the files and actually hack them by recoding (good programmers we got), and if u can get that firmware to pass through the zune's security, i'll buy you 100ipods so that u can help me throw them off buildings as we say that Zune is offically the greatest MP3 alive. Til then, i'll keep my money and continue to not buy an Apple product, and say that this is all wishful thinking and will not be done by mere consumers. tell M$ and see what they say lol...til then, back to researchin the ins and outs of this thing.

The reason everyone wants a clock so bad is because that's truly the only advantage that Apple has against Microsoft, if Zune had a clock, that would truly be the end of Ipods and Zune would rise as the "Ipod Killer"

Adding a clock would make it the iPod Killer? Why don't I just buy a clock radio then. My Zune doesn't need it thanks.

Clock would be alright, however it should be optional. I prefer my Packers Watch to tell time.

Lightbulb Societie's demand

I think there should be an optional download provided by Microsoft that would install a clock sometimes believe it or not it does come in handy. I've been late to meetings because i would listen to mah Zune and forget the time. Having a clock would certainly help the forgetful ones like myself. hahaah I mean wow half a gig i'm sure most of us have more than enough room on our device for a clock/alarm.
As for it being an ipod killer..... I HIGHLY DOUBT IPOD WILL DIE cuz it's imprinted in people's heads that IPOD is the best portable music player due to the media. Societies demand for more technology will eventually cause Microsft to change their concept on a simple music player. It's just how the world works.... even though fellow Zuners like myself prefer the simplicity, we don't make up ALL of society. Things will change whether we like it or not.

^i wouldnt be able to install the clock if it was half a gig...
500mb for a clock is overkill. a clock app would probably be 500kb.

A clock would be a very small addition to a firmware, i am sure the Hardware is capable, because the original 3 plays in 3 days was present (it no longer is though..), therefore calculating 3days would be an internal hardware clock.

it's true that Ipod will be very hard to take down, but I think that just getting it below the Zune is the goal for now.

Yeah, like a lot of people said (including myself) optional would be nice. However, I am glad zune is not mimicking iPods and is trying to go their own "route" Your not going to make a big push if your create a zPod so to speak. They (microsoft) will want to create their own inovative things and simply copying iPod isn't the way IMO. Then again a clock would be handy no denying that...I really want a zune alarm clock too :P

alot of people believed that they didnt include a clock because then people could turn back the clock and get rid of the 3day rule, but now without that, i don't see what microsoft is doing not including a clock. Probably worried about the clock alowing us to "hack the zune" knowing microsoft

I don't think people will go back to an iPod because it has a CLOCK. Also, this isn't the "Request" section, it's the "In Progress"

Please check next time before you post and it ends up in the wrong section.
