Use iTunes to sync with Zune?

Is there a way to sync the Zune with itunes instead of the zune 2.1? iTunes is so much better... Also, no drag and drop feature for the zune 2.1 organizer?....

Its a reasonable questions. Also if one can sync with itunes then one could sync with other software. He has his own preference and if he and other want to put the time into getting the zune to sync with itunes who are we to say its a bad idea.


To the original poster: some time ago and itunes hack emerged which allowed itunes to be synced to any folder on a computer. It is possible that said hack in combination with the use zune are removable disk hack would allow you to sync itunes with your zune. you would not be able to listen to listen to the drm'ed tracks you purchased from itunes.

How is it even a reasonable question?? Apple + MS /= good together.... iTunes slows down your computer sooo much, along with quicktime, you mite as well shoot your computer.

and you think zune software is better? Let me get something straight to you I HATE ITUNES SOFTWARE. Its horrifying CRAP. Well a week ago I found WORSE software. YES I actually found software WORSE than ITUNES. its called ZUNE software. Itunes does not force me to install windows update. Force me to install .netframework. Force me to install a half dozen other updates.

Itunes lets me DRAG AND DROP files on my computer (IE NOT located withing ITUNES) DIRECTLY onto the ipod. This is IMPOSSIBLE with zune software on any level.

Itunes lets me REMOVE music from itself OR never have it in itself to begin with and DOES NOT then go and delete said music from my damned zune and finally ITUNES could care less HOW many ipods I plug into it. ALL the same to it.

SO while ITUNES really and truly does SUCK. ZUNE software sucks so much more it would be a breath of fraking fresh air to use it over zune software. I NEVER thought such words would come out of my mouth but thats how bad a Taste I have IN my mouth after spending the last week FIGHTING with zune software. Know how I ended up figuring out how to use it?

HERE is my procedure.

First I open zune then I open the folder called my music in my documents (easier to leave it as that than fight it)

I make sure NOTHING in in the zune software or those folders. THEN I connect one of my 4 zunes. let it does it things yes yes call it this (at least it was kind enough to REMEMBER what I called the zune so I do not have to do that over and over again)

Then I copy the music I want to that folder. I let the zune software read it and pray it does not get cranky. I then SYNC said music to my zune.

THEN when thats all done I have to goto settings and click FORGET THIS ZUNE. Let it does it thing disconnect.

THEN goto my folders and delete everything.

Connect the next zune and repeat the whole damned process.

Let me tell you Microsoft is DAMNED lucky that they made an INCREDIBLE piece of hardware EVEN WITH the crippling restrictions they put in place AND that I got them so stinking CHEAP or I would have RETURNED ALL FREAKING FOUR OF THEM the moment I saw the words. Windows Update and .net Framework MANDATORY.

OK that was a good VENTING I feel better.

SO YES Itunes SUCKS. but ZUNE Softwre sucks SO MUCH MORE that it makes Itunes softwre look like heaven on earth in comparison.

Its not the GUI. it has some issue but its "nice" I guess. but at least in itunes it DOES recognize and VIEW my "folder structure" ie the music MY WAY not ITS WAY.

Go pick out 400 songs from at least 300 different albums and put them in a folder. THIS is your favorite songs folder. DROP that on the zune software and when your headache and nightmare clear come back and tell me zune software is great.

SO YES it sucks. but a lot less than itunes does. AND I still have no idea why it insists on CONVERTING some of my mp3's I thought it was mp3 compatible. I guess only SOME MP3 compatible.

I continue to zune for the HOPEFUL day when the 3 play limit is eradicated in firmware and for the day when this thing can be synced with simple more efficient better THIRD party software requiring NO PARTS of the original zune software to be installed or Preferably just a stinking drive letter.

If I can get those two things I CAN LIVE with even if I do not like the ID3 database driven interface.

Why don't you just leave all your music in the the my music folder instead of copying it into there at every sync, the zune is a media library.

THEN goto my folders and delete everything.

Why?

I have not used the new software but the old software has never failed me.


But yes there is a somewhat hack to use iTunes for the zune.

if tehre is a hack to use the zune with itunes, then why didn't you tell him in the first place rather than badgering him about his choices.
oh and i personalyl think itunes is great, its never acted up for me UNLIKE the zune software and it does what i want to it, sync things to my device.
itunes store is pretty great too.

now i remember why i bought an ipod.

and before i get flamed for liking ipod over zune, teh only reason i own a zune is because i got it for free. it is an amazing peice of hardware even with the restrictions microsoft put in place(to practically quote the guy 2 above me).
the software just sucks balls. the first version was fine, the new version is garbage. when i browse my music in it, it slows down ANY other things i have running teh background. like foobar2000(i use it to play music because zune software is a bloated flaming pile of dog you-know-what). when i do anything with the zune software except look at it, it lags even playing music, somethign that requires maybe 1% of cpu and maybe 10 megs of ram.

1st off: Calm the hell down! Its a piece of software every piece of software has problems and glitches

2nd: I love the zune software so much more than iTunes... 1. I'm a gamer so I don't need **** sitting in the background using my resources! I know Zune sits in the background but I don't notice any difference when playing games as I did when I had an iPod! iTunes killed my frame rate and even when I didn't play games and wanted to do some weblayouts photo shop was slow and so was dream weaver.

3rd: I have had no problems syncing music or with albums! Of course I usually buy albums and rip them using a good ripper then tag them using a different program then put them into zune! I had one problem with zune and thats because I had a ( where it shouldn't have been! In iTunes if something appeared off I would have to go in wipe the library then re import all of my music and pray that it fixed it! I have had numerous cases where tags would be 100% the same and a few songs would show up in a different album or different artist for that matter.

4th and last: I love the wireless sync! It works so flawlessly even though I've only used it once! It just worked! With iTunes I couldn't do that at all!

Zune software is tempermental sometimes I've seen the complaints but it seems to work just fine and it doesn't use up all of my resources like iTunes and quicktime does! AND I DON'T HAVE TO TAKE THE EXTRA EFFORT TO REMOVE IT FROM STARTUP! FFS I HATE YOU QUICKTIME BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO REASON TO START ON STARTUP!
