Default Sync new media automatically

This would probably less of a "hack" and more of a scripting task. Here's what I'm thinking. (For the record, I've got a 30gb 1st gen zune running updated 2.2 firmware/software).

**General Overview**
You download new media(either through marketplace, or through other means .. legally of course). The Zune software then automatically wireless syncs your Zune when the media has finished downloading. The catch? You don't want your entire media library synced. Perhaps there would be an option to remove old (say 30 days old) media from your Zune automatically. This would keep your Zune up-to-date with your media library, and hopefully limit the amount of time needed to actually sit at your computer manually selecting what to sync.

**Other Applications**

Perhaps this would also be useful to segregate media that you want the Zune software to be aware of, and the media that you want automatically synced.

**Specifics (I'm pretty much guessing at the technical aspects)**
The finished downloads go to a specific folder (x:\syncme). Zune monitors this folder and when new media is present, it automatically adds it to be synced when the device is in wireless range. A script then moves the media to its final destination (x:\synced) after the Zune software successfully converts/syncs the media. Note: I'm not quite clear on how the Zune software works... if a folder that is used to automatically sync is emptied, will the Zune software automatically delete the media on the Zune that originated in said folder? If so, the files could be left there for a predetermined amount of time (30days?). A cron job would daily check the x:\syncme folder's contents and anything that has a accessed/created/modified/whatever date > 30 days ago would be moved to x:\synced.

That's just my idea, I'm willing to use the basic Windows programming/scripting knowledge to help out in any way I can. If you think this is a useful idea, let me know.

Sounds like a lot of work, but prob. possibble.

Right now auto wifi sync only works with the new dock.

What new dock? I have the wall charger and when its plugged in, my 30gb zune checks in every few minutes to make sure it's up-to-date.

Well this is going to be easier than I thought... Sort of.

I just learned the hard way that if you delete mp3s from your collection (but don't actually delete the files from your hard drive), and zune is set to auto sync the collection - the zune software automatically removes those mp3s from your Zune.

So this is partially good, the hardest part is done... I know I can get the files to a syncme folder after it finishes downloading. And a script to check the date should be incredibly simple.

The challenge now is to see if there's a way to add music to the collection, without zune automatically attempting to sync it to the device. (Perhaps a only sync certain folders automatically?)

As a side note, is there any way to get in contact with the Zune software developers to discuss functionality with the software/ask questions/etc?
