Software to play more formats.

With the multi-function support added i was wondering if there was a hack/software/utility so that when you open a video that wont play it will open in the default program associated with that file type. I really enjoy the zune's media player and that support would be appreciated.

Yeah we have a hack with some .dll files around here somewhere just look around.

i think what you are talking about is the dll that allows the zune software to "see" these files and add them to the library but doesn't support playback. i am looking for something else...

Yeah, hobdiddy you're right. With the extension hack, most files aren't playable, they're just readable. This is done so the zune software can try and encode the files to a type it recognizes. It can only play these encoded files (though MP4 support is coming).

I wouldn't really used zune as a default player anyway. It's pretty good at hogging resources. That's best done with programs like Media Player Classic/VLC.

Yeah, no way that I know of to allow it to play the songs without converting them.

this is a good idea. if someone was to make this, I wouldn't have to waste time converting my media (songs, vieos, etc.)
