a really good hack would be to remove duplicate songs that are placed on the zune when u goto make a playlist, so i will try to make a hack to try to remove duplicate son,g from the zune, so if anyone wants to help please contact me

when i put songs in the sync list and try to sync it, it says added to already added to device

What is your definition of "duplicate"?

Same file name in two different directories? Same/different file size?
Different file names but matching artist/song names in ID3?

Because of "best of" collections and other compilations, I know I have a lot of duplicates in my library, but it doesn't bother me. What problem are you having that you need to identify and remove duplicates?

If you have three playlists that point to a song in one location, the song is only transferred once (if it's not already on the Zune). If your playlists point to the same song in multiple places, each copy of the song will be transferred.

well, hack, i meant like a hack to the program,

well what i mean by duplicate, is like same album, same track name,

and why i was thinking about this, was because like i make a playlist, and add tracks to it, it syncs nother copy of that to the zune, and that is kinda anoying, espicially in song that continue into another track

I'd like a utility that did that. Every so often I find myself with some albums in duplicate or triplicate and I have no idea why.

You want a utility to read your Zune and identify duplicate files based on matching artist, album, and song? And you have this problem because you have created a new playlist and the Zune software sent another copy of the song over instead of using the song that's already on the Zune?

I'm going to guess you're using manual syncing. Manual syncing sucks.

This would be great. I had this all under control untill i switch to the new software and im having this problem again, only now its a lot harder to fix.

Guys what he means is that he will make a hack so that it will delete duplicated songs off the software not zune. Like I hate it because my brother downloads a bunch of songs like crazy and he has so many songs that are the same that when I tell the zune software to find all of the songs on computer that it gives me all of them even if they are the same. Like if one of them is like a second shorter or less mb then the other or something is the tiniest little thing ever difference that the zune software will still add it and you will have to go through all the songs and delete them.

yeah... i think that this definatly deserves some attention... I have some of my library from itunes... my sister has an ipod... so whenever she adds info for an album... it shows up in zune software... and i have like six different tracks. its annoying. something to go through the song list and remove the duplicates, with the option of removing files that are no longer there

I am having a similar problem, but with videos only one icon shows up but when you click on it i get chapters
