Zune software as converter

I know that there are other converters, but why not use the Zune software as one? If you go into options-->devices-->advanced, the Zune software shows you where it stores the files it encodes for your Zune. They all have extension .tmp and some of them aren't wmvs, but most of them are. If someone could write a tiny program that convinces the Zune software that your device is connected, then when you 'sync' to this nonexistent device, the converted files will be dumped here. Then you could add metadata, change names, etc before syncing to your actual Zune. Some people claim to have made a lot of progress with reverse-engineering the software; if true, I don't think that this would be too complicated. Anyway, just a thought.
