anyone read it? It is one of those "How to be a godly man" books. I just started reading it. I already have a mild annoyance with it, the way it mentions how all men love the outdoors, and have a natural love of maps. it may be useful, I just hope he doesn't do that one size fits all manly man crap the whole book.

So he's using gender stereotyping to reinforce christian belief?

that is what I am geting from the first few pages, and I wouldn't neccesarily say it is even christian belief, as he is starting with the gender stereotype notion, and throwing contextless bible verses on top.

A book you may want to pick up that you might be interested in, is called The way of all flesh, By Samuel Butler. It's basically biographical, but it's from the perspective of an 18th century methodist preacher's son who has developed an essentially non religious outlook on life.

He's talking about hidden desires in us, that may be fulfilled for different reasons, as I understand it. Your map, may be learning a programming language, it's not the physical map, but the essence behind it, of creating understaniding of something, of betterment of knowledge in a way. Everyone has their own spins on the certain things, but really they're all the same thing. much like many movies are. Hero is, hero struggles, hero is. <--how many different movies are there that share that plot? Hancock, Superman, Spiderman (between1st and second movies)...and so many more...
