Default What are you on Richard Dawkins' Belief Scale?

On Richard Dawkin's scale of beliefs form 1-7, where in the spectrum do you fall?

1 Strong theist. 100 per cent probability of God. In the words of C. G. Jung, 'I do not believe, I know.'

2 Very high probability but short of 100 per cent. De facto theist. 'I cannot know for certain, but I strongly believe in God and live my life on the assumption that he is there.'

3 Higher than 50 per cent but not very high. Technically agnostic but leaning towards theism. 'I am very uncertain, but I am inclined to believe in God.'

4 Exactly 50 per cent. Completely impartial agnostic. 'God's existence and non-existence are exactly equiprobable.'

5 Lower than 50 per cent but not very low. Technically agnostic but leaning towards atheism. 'I don't know whether God exists but I'm inclined to be sceptical.'

6 Very low probability, but short of zero. De facto atheist. 'I cannot know for certain but I think God is very improbable, and I live my life on the assumption that he is not there.'

7 Strong atheist. 'I know there is no God, with the same
conviction as Jung "knows" there is one.'

Personally, I consider myself a 6.

6 if 'God' is defined by the Jewish/Christian god.

3-4 if 'God' is defined by some form of creator.

2 if 'God' is defined by some form of a higher being.

I find myself shifting as I get older, I spent most of my life at 3, then moved to 4 though high school and the beginning of college, right now I'd say 5.

I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.[/

Should it suprise me?

The only thing I know for certain is that nothing is for certain....which is why I chose 6.

6.

Went from 3 to 6 in one year. I never really much believed anyways, the only reason I was at church was because my parents made me go. Probably be 7 soon.

It's a mathematical impossibility that god exists.
Do not post things that say that there is.

I would be a seven, but that would take as much faith in the unprovable as a one. Being without faith, that makes me a six.

1 and 7 depending on the mood. Are you suprised? Or did you think I was just high on all the slack I have gotten?

As a discordian, that is "how I roll".

I agree completely.
Like I said before, I am definantly an atheist but I can't be 100% sure about anything.
And welcome to zune boards

I suppose I'm a 1. However, my concept of God is vastly different than for other people. Many of the arguments atheists love to use to somehow flaunt their superiority because they believe they are right do not apply to my concept of God. I base God on science as well as a little bit of Deism.

That's pretty interesting...care to elaborate on what your concept of god is? Just curious.

You a 7?! Whaah- No way!

I figured no one else would be surprised, so I thought I'd do my part to spread the reactions out a bit.
