catholicism is the only religion directly from Jesus, we must have something right. and you said Jesus or God.... Jesus is God.

Really? And there has been no deviation over the last 2000 years?

Also, if Jesus is God then what about the trinity?

yes there has been deviation (Luthern for example). the only religion that started from Jesus is Catholocism.

There are 3 divine persons (peronalities) in one God (father, Son, Holy spirit)

I'm talking about deviation within the Catholic Church... it's still as it was when Jesus "started" it?

I see this topic has promoted quite a stir...
I am Catholic, so I'll answer (or at least try to) any questions anyone wants to throw my way.

So then, Jesus and the disciples would have approved of the rituals and vestements of the Catholic Church? Or the veneration of Mary? Last I checked, the ritualistic priesthood was done away with at the exact moment Jesus died(tearing of the curtains on the Holy of Holies). Also, just because you claim direct lineage to Peter doesn't mean you're the only church that comes "directly from Jesus." Don't forget, Protestants would claim the exact same lineage, only the the Catholic Church had become corrupt at the time of the Reformation and needed repair. Luther never wanted to create a seperate church at all, but the officials sent to him did very little in the way of listening to him, reinforcing that only the Pope could accurately determine the will and word of God.

I'm Catholic, but with alot of religions theres a ton of symbolism and history behind certain things lol, so do you just like how catholicism had become forced around the world when the church had alot of control everywhere.

I was Catholic when I was about 4, i guess you wouldn't really count that since I didn't know what the heck I was doing.

Well, I was raised Catholic. My beliefs don't conform to the Church's doctrine, though.

Im not Catholic, I am Christian. I have been wanting to make the change to Catholicism though. I guess I have been a little afraid of the process. I keep telling myself to go to Mass but so far I havnt done it.

Catholics are Christians, and don't let anyone tell you anything different. A Christian is one who follows Christ, and unless Catholics start praising Mary higher than God or worship images of Christ on the cross, they're just as valid as any other denomination. While I personally find all the ritual and vestements overbearing and ridiculous, they obviously have reasons, probably good reasons to believe it, and I won't fault them for it. Many Protestant Christians do however, and it's quite sad. Catholics have just as much of a chance to get into Heaven as any Baptists, Presbytarian, non-denominational, and so on. So long as these groups follow Christ, and thus, the Bible, they are Christians.

Thankfully, not as "ridiculous" as blowing yourself up.

I find that people will destroy themselves or others regardless if religion is present or not in their system.

Also, non-religious people will use religion as an excuse or motivation to harm others.

Present case in point, Zawahiri, the leader of Al Qaeda, uses pseudo-ultra-intolerant-Saladin Islam as a recruitment and reason for death tool. Obviously he doesn't believe in his own teachings since he doesn't blow himself up nor join the fight at the front lines.

I don't mean you shouldin't do what you believe in, but when it's an extreme case I do. I'm not about to burn my neighbor's house down because I "believe" it makes mine look crappy.
