Default A Curse?

I have been floating between Agnostic and Deist for a long while now.

(Normally depending on the season, what I read in the newspaper, and what medications I'm taking at the time)

So, I think its safe to say I'm an Agnostic Deist?

As in... I believe there could be a god or gods, goddesses, a force or whatever out there but I don;t really care. And in the chance there is a force.. I don't really feel like submitting to it in worship, and I doubt it even cares how we live our lives.

Cause it is God and it is ballin' like that.

Unless this god or force is arrogant.. then I probably wouldn't worship it out of spite.
___

People are constantly trying to convert me to whatever they are when I gather the courage to say I don't share the same faith.

Mostly Christianity, Jeudism twice, and most recently Islam.
Normally it boils down to the dreadfully cliche.

"If you are right, so what? But, if I'm right you are going to Hell."
Is it just me or... that isn't the best pick up line...? <___<

Or its my fault that I'm ignorant of all that God does for me.

Then they will tell me the address of there church sometimes.

But, I can not join something I don't believe in 100%.

I personally think it would be disrespectful for me or anyone else to act the part of a certain religion while your heart is conflicted with it.

I grew up in the church, but I was never happy there.

I developed my agnostic thoughts while in church really.
Sitting in the pulpit alone isn't gonna change things, nor is reading scriptures.

I don't see some magic cure for it. I can't help how I feel.
____

I TRUELY envy people with faith.

I wish I could just sit and be happy and content with a religion.

Is thought and reason a curse?

It feels like it.

well im catholic in public, although i do believe there is a higher power. cos i wonder, is my religion the right religion, or is it the wrong one, and the true faith is something else. i do believe in God, or a god, and the catholic church just seems more inviting than other things. plus the eucharist satisfies my "seeing is believing".
your thoughts?

I sometimes claim Baptist and my late Grandfather's church if I don't feel like getting into an arkward conversation.

...or if I'm trying to get something from the person.
___

As for doubting your religion... members of my church just said "you gotta stay strong" or "keep the faith" but who can you if you have none?

This one lady said they are evil thoughts, but they come so.. naturally... ._.

do you believe that there is a higher power, like in the case of miracles?

I believe there could be one.

As for miracles... I doubt your favor with that "higher power" has little to do with divine intervention.

But what do I know ._.
I don't even have faith in what I think.

everyone has to start somewhere. what your doing is good, questioning instead of being brainwashed into something. i go to a catholic church, but i examined my faith and chose protestant (not cos of the KKK) but because they dont worship mary and saints

I think the best thing anybody can do is question themselves and their religion. If the leader of the church says that you shoudn't be doing that, then you need to get out of that church. They should be able to prove what it is they believe and if they can't then you really shouldn't be listening to them.

I feel the same. There was a little back and forth with another member and myself in the Afterlife thread on this board. He had made that same argument you spoke of in the first post. Basically boiling down to: "What do you have to lose?If you believe and it turns out to be wrong, what have you lost?". (Beside my self respect?) The answer I gave him was along the line of you can't decide to believe. you can't make yourself suddenly believe in God of a god. You would be lying to yourself. I told him that the most important thing to do is to follow what you KNOW to be the truth in your heart and for me, personally, I KNOW there is no God. To pretend otherwise would do no good.

I agree with mr.handsomeman in the way that you need to question what you believe. However, it seems to me (and perhaps I am misreading your words) that you're not sure of what you believe. The most important thing is to find yourself. To identify what it is that you want in life and what it is that you hold true and sacred. Not what some church or belief system holds sacred. You have to be able to identify yourself before you can subscribe to any belief system whether it be religion or political views.

This is all my opinion though

I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.[/
