Wasn't Jesus born in the summer time, not December 25th? The Bible never mentions what date He was born...

And while their presentation is compelling, they give no alternative. So there is no God? There is something else? They just make a couple points and then move on...

And just 'cause something is like something else doesn't necessarily negate its validity...

Just requires temperatures, cold front and precipitation just like anywhere else. Israel is not the Sahara. Blame the Romans, they brought it with them from Rome!

I will watch this film later but if its preposition centers around Islamo-Judeo-Christian religion debunking as proof that God does not exist than they are attacking from a weak center as religion has existed long before Judaism was probably first ever practiced, since we know the Mesopotamian cultures had their own religion. Why must everyone think that by debunking monotheistic religions that the debate is concluded? Do they think only these monotheistic religions were the only religions practiced throughout the whole of human history? I guess someone should call Olympus, Valhalla, Shangri-La and tell them that they stem from unpracticed religions that never existed.

Jesus was born some time around may i believe. Yes i am an avid Christian, but i have a real world stance too. ok lets straighten things out here, the bible was written by men, about 300 years (i think am not positive) after Christ was born. So they wont get everything right. And also the roman catholics or Christians picked Dec. 25 because it was the pagan holiday for the sun god, and while they wanted everyone to convert, they also wanted everyone to be able to celebrate. (their were mainly two religions back than Christian and pagans)

The individual texts were circulating by ~80 AD

The Gospel canon (has nothing to do with and actual cannon), was in place a little after the middle of the second century. The rest of the N.T. was canonized by the Synod of Hippo in 393 and again by the Councils of Carthage in 397 & 419 giving us the 27 book New Testament we use today. Most, if no all, of the books had been considered "unofficiallly official" for centuries, these councils just made them "officially official."

The councils used the Hebrew Septuagint as the Old Testament.

(in case anyone wanted to know).

Oh, and according to the traditional Christian belief, the last book of the New Testament written was the book of Revelation, written by John the Apostle on the Island of Patmos around 95 A.D. or about 60 years after the death of Christ.

Well the vid points to astrology as the source of all religion. One glaring misconception (and I'm not 100% on this) is Jesus wasn't born on Dec. 25th was He? And if he didn't, their argument just got weaker...

That made me twitch. Whoever made that video was a complete idiot. I... I just don't know where to begin in calling this BS... The thing with the ancient gods was almost completely wrong (Isis? A Virgin? HA!). Dionysus was far from what I'd call a savior god. He was in charge of overseeing parties and the arts!

Jesus was born in spring, what would be on our Roman calendar the April/May time frame. Early Christians set Christmas in December because the pagans they were trying to convert in Europe already have a holiday then, Yule (In most pagan mythos Yule was the celebration of the re-birth of the sun god after his death on October's Shamain). And the fact that their own religion already had a festival around that time (easter/passover).

I could keep going, but I'll spare you all. /history major

oh, religion.
waht a topic.
in my opinion, people shouldnt limit theirselves to one set of rules, but base their religion on different teachings. no one knows which one is correct for sure...
you may say "Oh well the Bible says so" or "The Torah is right."

but really. who knows.

The Catholic Adapted Dec. 25th because it was a roman holiday and it would make it easy if there was am holiday on the same date for converted romans where you could drink and give presents

religion came from the beliving that after somebody die there soul had another life that it was supposed to be better than the one they had ,then those belivings got more complex until they became a full religion or cult.
im (by the way) a catolic.
