hello
yeah i was just wondering what you guys think when it come to the different types of Christianity for example there is the catholic church and the pentecostal. catholics worship Mary i don't understand why she was just a normal human like all of us although she was picked by God to have his only son but isn't worshiping Mary kind of wrong doesn't it seem wrong to you?????

Yeah... worshiping Mary doesn't seem right. highly respecting her maybe, but not worship. only God should be worshiped.

The Catholic church isn't technically Christianity (even if it was, what a shame it would be to count it as such). And yeah, worshipping Mary is um o.O...interesting.

seriously, crack a book on the subject you're attempting to speak on every once in a while, because this kind of crap is ridiculous. i can only imagine how offended you would be if someone came along and suggested that you were a "real" Christian because you weren't catholic, and that would be a much stronger argument than the straight bull**** spewed in this thread.

I'm just saying if you're mad enough to bitch about no one knowing anything then you should feel motivated enough to explain it. Other than saying something contrary to what they said (Something that doesn't hold that much significance in the religion being "Christian" or not.)

i don't know if you read the posts to which i was responding, but there were two issues, one as to whether or not catholics were Christians and the second as to whether or not they worshiped the virgin mary. i never suggested that a negative answer to the second question meant a positive answer to the first. i don't know how you drew that conclusion, but it wasn't from my post.
as to the rest, the burden is not on me in this case. catholics claim to be Christians, and they also do not claim to worship the virgin mary. if i claim that i believe something, and there is no reason to believe i am lying, and you come along and claim that i, in fact, do not believe what i claim to believe, then the burden is upon you to make the case, not me. with that in mind, it is entirely appropriate for my response to do nothing other than point out that catholics are indeed Christians (which is, of course, what they claim), and that they do not worship the virgin mary, which is exactly what i did.
my frustration arose because the kinds of claims made here are the same types of claims traditionally made by bigots and racists concerning catholicism and people from areas where such is dominant. i was half-waiting for someone to talk about them being "pope worshipers" as well. that sort of thing frustrates me, and people making claims for which they have no justification frustrates me, and i think those sorts of things should frustrate me. consequently, i make no apologies for being frustrated by such flagrant demonstrations of ignorance.

you mean the virgin mary? they do that because she's the mother of jesus, and god found her good enough to give birth to his son.

And there's a pope to guide the rest of the religion, and to make important decisions for the church.

i would replace 'religion' with 'church'.
i wondered if someone else would pipe in if i kept my mouth shut. and you did. but, yea, it seems pretty obvious why someone might think that mary was pretty important. i mean, when God sent the angel gabriel to her, he said "Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women" (luke 1:28 kjv). God thought that only mary was worthy of giving birth to His son, God made flesh.
come on guys, this isn't rocket science. if you weren't so busy trying to rag on people whose interpretation of the Bible is slightly different from yours then you wouldn't make such stupid, stupid mistakes.
