Android
AS SOON AS someone cracks the zune hd, I will try porting Android to it. It cannot be too terribly hard.
One way to hack it is to change some registry values (much like what happened for the HDD hack) to make the computer think it's a different device. From there, we may be able to access the hidden partitions, and even the MBR of the zune. We then may be able to inject custom Android code.
Please don't flame, I'm just trying to get some hype built up for Android or even Ubuntu MID on the zune hd. We talk about hacking it, but what will we do?

Do ya mean buffer overflow? There's a long discussion on
zB about doing buffer overflow.
We don't have the manpower sadly.

Not buffer overflow at all, but re-assigning the zune a different key in the registry, or perhaps connecting via a linux box

Yeah, and anyway, the Zune checks pretty much everything in the hidden partitions to see if they are signed, and I don't think that MS made the same
mistake that Ninty did .

Just so you know, you cant change registry to make the zune appear as a different device, that info is passed from the zune, and nothing on the computer could change it. Also, im fairly sure that the security checks, especially on the HD go much deeper than we might think.
