It looks like what you managed to do is get Windows Explorer to see the Zune. The Zune uses MS's MTP protocol and would normally show up in Explorer, but the Zune driver package hides it. This is how the file storage hack for pre-3.0 Zune worked.
Unfortunately, while whatever you found might lead to a working way to load files onto the Zune again, it doesn't bring a successful hack any closer. It's already possible to send commands to the Zune and read device info, including battery life, with Microsoft's tools (wpdinfo.exe in particular comes to mind), but the scope of what you can do with that is quite limited.
