Could you not just use a virtual machine to make the software think that it is inside C:\Program Files, or is that just not possible?

I dont really understand what you are trying to do, are you trying to get the zune software to work off of a flashdrive or are you trying to get the zune to recoginze files on a ortable hard drive.

i think this is a good idea because i have nearly everything on a flash drive..

and it would be funny if you put the software installition program on your zune when using it as a portable harddrive via hd hack

actually thats exactly what im trying to do, i want to plug the zune in and then the software pops up, i think i could do it, i just need to make the registry values inside a folder and redirect everything to the folder..hmm..
idk how im gonna do that? anyone wanna help me

Nobody really did post their status on this, though.

I would imagine it would be a matter of tricking the zune program into loading the .dll's and stuff from the flash drive. Simple wrapper... but maybe I'm wrong.

Would it be pausible to partition off a section of the HDD and put on the firmware for a portable HDD or could you make an auto run feature that the computer looks for when you plug it in telling the comp that its a nornal external drive?

ok wait a minute, you couldnt just set it up to do a registry emulation?

I forgot what program it was but it emulated a certain peice of registry for a crack I used once. I will see if I can find it, maybe it would be usefull for you

a portable app is one that can be run with out having to install it or make changes to the registry.
